why is it with other movies the suckage starts with the director, but when Lucas is around Steven gets a free pass? :|

    :banghead:
I have this pet theory that for you haters you don't think Lucas ideas suck (seriously, 25 years ago he gave us asteroid dwelling space worms) as much as you resent the fact that maybe you realize youve outgrown things that you find cool as kids.

    A Lucasfilm Production

Story by George Lucas and SOME OTHER DUDE

    Yeah?

    Yeah?

The best direction in the world couldn't save that shit.

Spielberg's end of the bargain was fine, he did good. So, you know, blame where blame is due, the SUCKASS STORY.

Oh and the whole "outgrown" angle, dude, really? On a Transformers board? Get outta here with that.

dude. nobody goes 'wtf is this shit, omg David Mamet sucks!!!'

when was the last time you reviewed a movie and bypassed the director when you start criticizing it? do you really think these old hands were like:

hey steven heres the script, ok shoot it.

gee I dunno George, monkeys, aliens..wth fridge?...

stfu Steven and just shoot it!!!

I'm thinking its a little more round table with these guys.

and seriously, go back to the start of this post. when was the last time you criticize movie starting with the writer 1st? come on, don't be shy.

The story was written by two guys and the script itself by another, then it was approved by director and lead actor. Everyone involved said YES THIS IS WHAT WE WANT TO DO. But people that hate it only blame one of the guys - Lucas. It's like everyone going after the fat kid in dodgeball. He's the easy target and he's taking all the heat. Spielberg had just as much pull in this as anyone to say "you know what, let's not show monkeys, let's not show aliens" or whatever else but he gets absolutely no blame for his part in agreeing that those things belonged in the movie. Even if he didn't come up with it, he agreed with it, he shot it, and he allowed it into the final cut.

Wow, put more words in my mouth there, sport, when did I complain about monkeys, fridges or aliens?

This is Lucas' franchise. I don't know or really care enough to know or want to know about the shape of his table. We all know the guy is super controlling of his stuff, so I don't know where else you'd want people to place the majority of the blame they want to dish out.

Spielberg also doesn't shit gold, remember Jurassic Park 2? Hook? He did a fine job with what was here. Ford hasn't been relevant in fuck knows how long. Their yes or no really doesn't say anything other than I'm glad it took this long for them to finally agree, those other scripts must have been rotten.

I didn't like the movie. Sorry.

If I were 21 I'd make a drinking game out of how many times Twin Twist can manage to say "yeah" or "really" in any given post.

    Well, that's ok too.

I hear some people though Pirates 3 was pretty rad too, but I disagree.

Except for those damn crabs. They were awesome.

Just saw it today...it really took 15 plus years for THAT to be made. Wasn't horrible, but Aliens seriously?!

I'm still kinda shocked to tell the truth.

I thought it was fun. Not the best, but a fun summer movie. I'm not totally sold on the shift to sci-fi but it is set in the 50's and the 50's was all about the UFOs so I can dig it on that level. I enjoyed the two chase scenes. The monkeys where silly. I really liked Cate Blanchett. The stuck in the sand was funny. That's all I got right now.

*edit* I don't think you can pin this one on Lucas alown. This movie isn't getting made with out Lucas, Spielberg, Kaufman and Ford being on board. Lucas did the plot outline, Koepp wrote the final script. If any of the key people where really unhappy they could have kept the movie from happening.

    I have got a question......

Has Lucas really gotten "worse" or has he just been actually doing things the way he wanted for the past 10 years?

I mean he wasn't considered a scorsese when he came onto the scene, and Im sure execs still had a lot of control over his projects........ Maybe he never had "it"..... Maybe it was the compromises that made the other movies more "accessible and believable"........

I liked episode 3 , kind of liked 2, but i knew episode 1 was crap......

Oh and I like temple of Doom more than the new Indy, cuz hollywood has seemed to have gotten this mindset of "now we have the technology, now we can show EVERYTHING.... no matter how grandiose" hence CGI prairie dogs......... how much could a prairie dog cost? Im guessin less than paying a guy to model it in 3d

Thats why the new jabba's palace scene sucks , where puppets and no original alien song review worked just fine before.

Thats why we got jar jar, whereas without the technology that went into creating him, no one would have even given him the benefit of a doubt.

And thats why Indiana jones will sword fight God then get away in a Motorcycle chase scene in the ROTLA special edition.........

Anyone remember the south park? lol
