There's now more time between when the Car Robots Brave Maximus came out that I bought and now then there was between when the original G1 Fort Max came out and Car Robots.

 

Pontiac was axed over a decade ago. Cybertron has been off the air for longer. RiD was around before the terrorist attacks on September 11. Michael Bay’s first Transformers film was made when George Bush was still in office. Ronald Reagan was the President when Transformers Victory was on the air in Japan. The Berlin Wall fell after the Sunbow series had already concluded. Transformers Prime was made before Osama Bin Ladin was found. Sam and Mikaela use an early version of Cisco Webex in Revenge of the Fallen. Bumblebee was nearly three years ago. Dark of the Moon was a decade ago. There are teenagers who are too young to have seen Transformers Animated on TV. RiD2015 is not still on the air. It’s replacement, Cyberverse, is also over as far as the TV show Part is concerned. It enjoyed three seasons. Combiner Wars is not the current line. In conclusion, Universe Cyclonus is probably older than your son.

The War Within comic that popularized the whole "Optimus was an archivist, Megatron was a gladiator" TF trope is nearly 20 years old.

 

Megatron being a gladiator started in 1986 with State Games, which makes that trope almost as old as the franchise itself.

I'm probably way younger than a lot of people here (I'm 25), but over the past couple years I've been feeling the "wow, that was a long time ago" feeling. Especially with Revenge of the Fallen being twelve years old, and Dark of the Moon being a decade ago. Those both feel way more recent, the memories of going to the store to see the new toys is very vivid in my mind (whereas my memories of the '07 movie are more hazy). I watched Transformers Prime back in 2013 while the last season was airing, and that doesn't feel like 8 years ago.

I also start the Netflix's War for Cybertron this weekend (only two episodes so far). It was okay, but it also seemed like almost every character had the same grimdark personality.

 

I love how the first post exclusively focuses on Transformers from this century. No matter how young you are, you're gonna feel old. As for me, I remember having an audio cassette player when I was a kid.

And now we know why the Fossilizers are so popular. They've become the most relatable part of the franchise.

Oh man! And in all that time, we haven't seen a single fully original take on Transformers enter production, outside of Rescue Bots and Botbots.

 

Last Stand of the Wreckers was 11 years ago. By the end of this year the Death of Optimus Prime, More than Meets the Eye, and Robots in Disguise, will have started 10 years ago. Dark of the Moon was 10 years ago. Revenge of the Fallen was 12 years ago. Transformers Animated ended 12 years ago and started 14 years ago. The Unicron trilogy ended 15 years ago and started 19 years ago. RID and those Beast Wars and Beast Machines reruns I watched on YTV was 20 years ago.

Hell, I had a portable 8 Track player as a kid.
