That's awesome for everyone waiting on the DX YF-21!

...now give us a release date your VF-1J, Threezero! Not just radio silence... (different company, I know, just annoyed at the complete lack of communication)

I paid it off using Amazon gift cards but I might have to cancel if united wave 3 drops early.

HMR-VF0A got delivered today, so here be some quick snaps and stuff...

Fwiw, the HMR VF-0A has a nice gray-blue coloring.

However, it's quite a bit far off from the shading and color saturation of the VF-0A depicted in the anime...

Yeesh, same release date as some pricy gunpla. Bandai likes to drain wallets all at once

    Nice and about damn time.

Tho I personally just want the armor-pack, as I don't really need nor want another -25 valk (Revival, etc) whose joints all quickly and aggravatingly loosen up after just a couple of minor OOB handling...

I've pretty much waved off all these rereleases, but I've never had Ozma's Valk. I could be convinced to snag this one though, I enjoy a good Roy stand in.

Got my HI METAL R VF-0A Shin with ghost drone set in.

Starting off with the negatives; due to the overall size and detachable/swappable parts on the back/chest to accommodate the Ghost drone, this is a fiddly figure. It’s easy to accidentally knock off the chest and back attachments while transforming or posing it. I don’t think I would’ve minded if the back and chest pieces that the Ghost drone and missle plugs plug into were permanently molded to the back and chest instead of being swappable. You only see the attachments jettisoned off at the end of Macross Zero anyways. Not a fan of swappable wings as the wings are still easy to inadvertently detach(especially on the right side for some reason on my VF-0s). Unless you are extremely careful and moving very slow, the trim on the vertical stabilizers will likely get scratched when attaching/removing the Ghost drone. It’s also odd to see all these swappable parts but no swappable landing gear for the Ghost drone. The ankles click into place when fully retracted but not when pulled down all the way.

The shoulder hinges don’t click into the backplate as securely compared to the VF-1(and possibly my VF-0S/D). They’re very easy to pop off of the rails when transforming so I find it easier to slide them when the swing bar isn’t clicked into place(the irony being that the rails were designed so that the arms could slide without needing to untab the swing bar for transformation). The chest plate can be hard to manipulate due to how tight the hinges are. The springpinned shoulder hinges are tight and their tolerances can fight against you when trying to transform the arms in fighter mode. The gunpod mounts tighter on the left forearm than it does on the right.

There’s a number of positives. The plated finish on the canopy is beautiful. Hopefully it won’t crack down the line(that’s why Yamato stopped utilizing it on their V2 1/60 VF-1). The paint job and paint scheme is decent. I prefer the deco here over Arcadia’s and Yamato’s.

The knees have been retooled. If you slide the lower legs all the way down, the knees are now able to bend more than 90 degrees backwards. This is a notable improvement over the HI METAL R VF-0D/S and I’m not sure why neither of them had this knee joint design. I didn’t notice this until the last preview images were released so it’s a pleasant surprise. Thanks to this improvement, it’s more fun to pose in battroid compared to the D/S.

Overall this figure is quite the looker. It suffers from its size; while ambitious, there’s a lot going on at such a small size without much clearance during transformation. If Bandai made a DX in 1/48 scale(using ratchets and rivets instead of ball joints of course), it would likely avoid most of the issues encountered here.

Anyone else feel that "wings swung all the way forward" goes TOO far forward on the Three Zero? It's approaching A-10 Warthog levels of "wings straight out".

I know some extol the virtues of the Arcadia, and I'd love to own one, but I'd be really excited about a 1:48 VF-0. It (and its variants) has really grown on me.
