Well no surprise, Threezero VF-1J delayed. Amazon emailed me, had to approve, no new ETA.

Jay-sus...turning into quite the shit show with their VF-1J. No sign of when it will actually drop...but they were more than happy to put up pre-orders for their VF-1S. Getting some Hiya Toys 1/12 RoboCop vibes here.

HI METAL R VF-4A Hikaru version (October 2024 release?) 14300yen; mag pic from Stone Cheung:

    IMG_4380.jpeg

Not sure if the only difference is the stand with portrait sketch and the Minmay backdrop

Wonder what’s going on. I’m all for delays if it means getting things right rather than the initial batch of customers being used as guinea pigs for the next release.

I remember Toynami’s MPC VF-1J being delayed for a while and it still wasn’t how they envisioned. Hopefully Threezero is delaying release to get things absolutely right.

In the meantime I watched the initial CG transformation video they have on YouTube in slow motion to get an idea of what to expect. The transformation seems like it borrows from Bandai’s DX VF-1 but with the swing bar not needing to detach to enable waist swivel. It also has prongs to the side, not sure if that’s to stabilize it against the back. The arms did hang down beneath the legs in fighter a bit but not as much compared to the recent VF-1S fighter mode pics(from the side); in that respect it reminds me of the Yamato 1/48. Hopefully there’s some kind of tab or brace that can keep the arms recessed further.

Even when played back at regular speed the transformation didn’t seem to take that long…yes it’s cg but still it’s a VF-1, guessing it’ll be quicker to transform than Bandai’s DX.

I'm going to guess that the VF-4 will be a MWW release given that they're marketing it as a Flashback 2012.

    Oh Bandai…

Why are you seriously re-releasing the older stuff again and not making the super uber long teases for the Tomahawk, Phallanx, Regult Scout, N-Ger, Q-Rau, Mirage’s/ Booger’s/Elvis Draken, Silpheed Armour/Supers for the remainder of the 31/31ax, etc..

I bet your reply is: “We just don’t want to do it yet, maybe later down the road”. Yet keep on pushing it back and back until we all end up dead and then you guys make it for our great-great grandkids who don’t even understand what Macross is: “Macross? Never heard of it, is it a Gundam?” :banghead:

There’s also the 1/60 scale from Yamacadia @G.I.EDDIE, but let me guess… It’s bloody too expensive or you don’t have display space for it.

I think there’s a model kit for the VF-4, but you don’t have the time or the patience to flutz with it.

It’s fun to fiddle with, I think it’s 1 of the better VF toys in the HI METAL R line.

I think that's the stores themselves doing that to give more people a chance to get one. I think it's a good policy for high demand items.

The "main" YF-21 yellow and the "fine added warning stripes/markings" yellow don't match, and that bugs me. Should be the richer "main" yellow all around.
