My 2 cents - I bought the regular version (non-premium) back in 2021 and really wanted to like it. After having it for about a month, I sold it. It just wasn't doing anything for me and is actually quite a boring. It's more like a model than say a premium figure. It felt very delicate and essentially a nice display piece. Just transform and leave as is.

The saddest thing, aside from any playability issues, is that there seems a consensus that the premium finish version is so much better that folks often say to skip the original...which is the one that's being reissued; NOT the PF.

For those who have neither, like me, it's a painful decision to have something supposedly disappointing because its been surpassed vs. nothing at all. :banghead:

Then again, there's rent needing paying.

Right there with you guys, but still leaning towards getting it. It's one thing missing from my Macross collection.

Yeah, I don't know if I can really resist the PO were it going right now.

Yet, how angry will we be if it sells gangbusters and Arcadia just goes and does the PF? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I've never sold a Macross/RT figure, but I could see myself doing it if a PF opportunity presented itself.

Of course, if this were the TV version, no one would be conflicted right now.

Buy once, cry once. The Macross fanbase is so fiercely loyal that I sincerely doubt that'll be the last run.

The SDF-1 is a centerpiece. Don't compromise on it. Either wait or entertain the idea that you'll have plenty of time to brush up on your modeling skills to make your own PF version when that sees an inevitable reissue.

You say that with such assuredness that Arcadia will be around to do it. Are you psychic? If so, some winning Powerball numbers will do me better. I'd buy the company.

I can see where this is going so while I can't give you solid advice on Powerball numbers, I can tell you that acrylic based paints are the easiest to work with and that it would be a good idea to buy cheap plastic kits for practice.

My days of kitbuilding are long past, I'm afraid to say. I couldn't paint a straight line on the long side of a 1:1 bus.

That's why washes are so awesome. Dilute a grey acrylic, wash it over an area with a lot of molded detail, then wipe it off and let dry. Between that and dry brush weathering, you can make any model look amazing without touching it with an air brush or a solid painting hand. Just makes sure to seal everything with a top coat and practice on a cheapo kit before going after anything important.

I was thinking Max and Milia VF-1Js, but some say they may go straight to the VE-1 as they just did the VT-1. With Bandai, I would think they would stretch some of the big wants out.

Don’t forget as well @Destructimis Prime and @Radioguy: DX(es) 1a Hikaru, DYRL 1s Max [short lived].

Unknown if we might get the Cavalier/Alaska Base 1a variants as well

The Ostritch is a nice weird obscure one, like the Elint, that many of us like, but with the Mech Hikaru essentially being a reissue, I would think they would try to pull out the stops and go for a seller that's well-known, less obscure, and not require new tooling expense if it can be helped. IMO, the Max and Milia 1Js seem to fit that. Plus, it can give a nudge to Arcadia as to who the big boy on the playground is again.

Hopefully Max VF-1S…it’s the 40th anniversary of DYRL? and that stole the show for its brief appearance in it.

I'm still a bit sore for missing out on the 1/60 version of it. But I'll take a DX sized one :D

With super and strike parts :D
