Looking at the YF-19 I dont know if Im a old grumpy collector, but I prefer my Valks to be more realistic looking and not going too Animeistic. Its like the whole toon TF look now. Quick change yet simple. Its like too simple. I think that is why I love the DX YF-19. It looks like a actually test aircraft with all the tempos.

Good thing there’s options for us. I think Bandai went shortchange due to the scale. In years past their transforming Macross kits didn’t have a good reputation for poseability and durability(like on their bigger 1/72 VF-1 and Macross F kits within the last 10+ years). Shortchange transformation prevents them from their tendency to overengineer mechanisms on a transforming Macross kit.

I would prefer a HI METAL R YF-19 over the new HG YF-19 kit and hope that Bandai’s collector toy division(Tamashii Nations) eventually makes one. I can still see myself getting the HG YF-19 kit as I’m starting to accept the transformation more, given the price and the strengths as a result(anime accuracy and poseability).

Now if the HG YF-19 was the only YF-19 Bandai was making altogether then I’d be pissed.

In some way the DX VF-1 takes a shortcut transformation route when detaching the torso during transformation from fighter to battroid mode if you want to enable the waist swivel. That kind of shortcut I don’t mind since no parts are left off when the torso is reconnected. That’s the way I usually transform mine since it tends to be faster than manipulating the swing bar with the legs attached(for me).

Woo! VF-1A Angel Birds just landed! I have to say that this might be the first DX box I keep since it is quite beautiful and the first Valkyrie that might just stay primarily in Fighter Mode. I love the paint detail on the legs as well.

So is the 19 kit officially released now? My HLJ order still says open order but the listing page says backordered. Just wondering if I should be proactive and grab one from another shop.

The Angel Bird release looks great, if I had room for another DX VF-1 it would be top tier option

Currently that space is reserved for a VF-1A CF or DYRL Max

The Angel Birds VF-1A looks absolutely gorgeous in Valk mode, but the deco turns into a hot mess in Battroid. Those giant chunks of blue on the hips and thighs look so out of place with the all the white from the knee down. Plus, you know, it's a 1A. Hate that mono-lens block head. :lol

Oh. I have no room for this one, but would love a CF 1A.

Haha. I actually love the mono lens 1A because that was my first Valkyrie growing up.

I have no attachment to the Angel birds, but Man, the box art for the Angel birds, and how it turned out, I regret not ordering one now.

HI METAL R VF-1 was made loosely around 1/100 scale but veers larger depending on the mode so it’s not exactly 1/100 nor consistent. A YF-19 closer to the size of the HI METAL R VF-0 would be more accurate in relative scaling compared to the HI METAL R VF-1.

If the 1/100 VF-19 kits by Bandai were scaled accurately then by comparison, I would think the HG YF-19 is actually under scaled, maybe at 1/120 instead of 1/100, but maybe this is just in battroid mode.

When scaled properly, the YF-19 is bigger all around than the VF-1, longer in fighter mode and also taller in battroid mode. For those measurements it’s more accurate to gauge using non-transforming toys/models in the same scale.

    Bandai non-Gundam toy-vs-model scaling == utter shenanigans...

One can only hope Bandai finally fixed the various fit-issues epdiemic reported on the whole 31AX DX-line with this Hayate reissue. Most likely Bandai didn't fixed it at all.

Also, the rectal-thermometer/pregnancy-test "weapon" is still just way too WTF-stupid and one of the other reasons preventing me from even considering this valk for acquisition...

I like my Bogue version since I already had the base Hayate and Mirage and didn’t want to double dip on decos

Not trying for a complete Delta Flight heh
