I've always liked the color scheme and the fighter design since first watching Zero, so I've been wanting one of these for a while. I've read and seen Anymoon's reviews between the two; am I just better off hunting for and spending like $180 on an old Yammie that may or may not be in decent condition, or double that and preorder the Arcadia?

Preorder the Arcadia. I have the Yamato. It’s a design over 10 years old at this point and doesn’t feel the most sturdy. If you’ve handled any Valkyrie toy released in Japan within the last 5 years the Yamato SV-51 will feel very dated to you. You might save some money getting the Yamato but end up thinking it hasn’t held up well or may need repair. In that case you’re still better off with the Arcadia. You’ll be getting a new and better SV-51 toy.

Posted on the DX 31ax Haya Haya edition thread on MW.

The full box presentation of the Haya Haya 31ax box. If you zoom in the lower left corner of the box, the Limited Edition stand is packaged with it. Looks like the corresponding Supers on the actual Haya Haya in gerwalk mode will be a TWE.

White landing gear and intakes? On an Sv-51? I'll need to check that----that is very non-Russian. (the Sv-51 is so Russian-inspired in many design details, especially its landing gear, that I'd be surprised if Kawamori intended them to be white).

It's also not how the previous one was. Somebody has to be wrong.

Might be dictated by him, he was the one responsible for the Yamato stand-alone VF-0A being grey instead of tan/brown.

The old Yammie SV-51 all have white landing gears. The Yammie Nora has gray landing gears.

As for the SV-51 design, I reckon it was inspired by mostly a combination of real-world russian SU-25 (for the straight wings) and SU-30/33 (the rest except reversed canards) aircraft.

Dunno where or which particular aircraft he lifted the reversed canards, tho.

Pretty sure my Yamato Sv-51 has grey gear, but don't want to dig it out.

    It’s SU-27 and F/A-18 IIRC

I’ll take that over the duplicate rear landing gear mine has.

I think it's white and the intakes were gray. That said, having seen your posts for years between MW and here, I know you're the color expert. My Yamato Nora is out and displayed in fighter with it's gears down. I can check it when I get home, just for the sake of the discussion.

Edit: And there it is, I should have known you were right from the get go lol.

    Yup.

    Gray, indeed. I stand corrected:

    SU-33 is a SU-27 with canards.

As for the Hornet, I thought the Frogfoot has a much longer wingspan, so a bit closer to the sv-51 wing design. Doesn't fold like the Hornet and SV-51 wings, tho:

Wow, the price of Nora's Sv-51 on HLJ is crazy; since I already have the Yamato Ivanov version, I considered getting the Arcadia Nora this time, but that price is a bit too steep.

I hope Bandai will get the Zero license at some point and price them closer to $200, which is still pricey for a toy, but that's pretty much the going rate these days.

Quite expensive. Then you have to add the shipping-fees to the overall cost.

As such, however, their Arcadia SV-51 Ivanov has the same pricing and that's been out and about for awhile, so Nora's pricing shouldn't have been quite a surprise.

You can still find the old Yammie Nora in various used-conditions from the regular jp import-shops like Ami and Mandarake, if you so decide.

    They've shown the HM-R VF-0S, but will they even bother making a HM-R SV-51?

We're all still waiting on the other HM-Rs that were already shown some years ago...

Higher chance than some of the remaining HI METAL R Destroids stuck in dev hell IMO, since the SV-51 transforms and people will want an SV-51 to go along with their VF HI METAL VF-0s. Not to mention that the SV-51s were prominent in Macross Zero whereas most Destroids haven’t been in most series save for Kanaria’s in Macross F.

Note: I want some HI METAL R Destroid toys(have FOMO) but just think in this case that an SV-51 in the line has a higher chance of being made.

I'll prolly be more optimistic about it if/when Bandai finally completes the HM-R TV/DYRL VF-1 line. It's all a simple recolor that they've been dragging their feet for a long while now...
