I only have the 1J Hikaru left and the canopy doesn’t seem to open. Was it only the 1S that had a swappable canopy and heat shield?
For the early Bandai reissues, the 1S Gift pack came with a swappable heat shield but to remove the canopy, you need to unscrew it from the bottom through the landing gear. I believe all the early (and some later) 1/55 canopy’s could be removed the same way. Some later releases came with heat shields that just clipped over the canopy and then there were some where the canopy just pops out to be replaced with they heat shield. However, I don’t think any of them actually had space made for a figure to sit in. You could probably fit a small figure in but it would just be crammed in there with no seat.
For the 2001 reissues all of them except for the VF-1J Hikaru have the swappable canopies/heat shields. The 2008 VF-1J Hikaru reissue has the swappable canopy/heat shield.
Regardless, I don't think there is really any room to seat any figure in the Bandai 1/55 cockpit other than in a coffin/burial position.
Of course. I found the makers marks when I transformed it from Battloid to Jet. It's a Toynami from 2001. I don't even remember where I purchased it. Mystery solved.
Aha- That explains it then, mine is a 2001 reissue. Hard to believe I got this two decades ago! I think it was one of my first HLJ orders. I think you could cram a Dianaut in there, but probably not in any kind of sitting position.
One thing that should be noted though is the decline of the yen vs 10 years ago. Yes yammies mightve been cheaper vs Arcadia, but the conversion rates were far more brutal vs now! That being said, the used market for yammies was quite cheaper I got a opened strumvogel for $110, now they're quite pricier. Do what you love though! I will still enjoy the hobby and get new valks!
I just looked that up. I'm really tired so I may not be thinking clearly. In 2011 the average for the year was $1.00 = 79y 2021 is $1.00 = 110y Isn't that the opposite of a decline?
Naw…see how $1 gets you 100Y now vs 79Y before. That means you are getting more yen per dollar now, meaning the Yen has declined in value relatively.
Tracking is moving on GBP full sets from Okini and Luna Park (second one is for a friend). Probably have them Wednesday. I can get the "S" I'm using in my armor set out of there and get the J in there where it belongs!
I did it. I made it work! Spoiler Ok, so the chest part is actually just sitting there thanks to gravity. Yeah it does not click in, but it was hilarious for a few minutes at least. Decided to put Max in the Armor since the original Battletech had their Crusader based upon the VF-1A in the Armor for some strange reason. Plus I can swap it with Roy's/Hikaru's 1S when I get bored and want Max and Miria to match with supers. Still debating on moving the two Mospeada from the shelf to make it a Macross only shelf now that I have the Fan Racer (which is behind the Legioss) to fill out the void in front of the Valkyries. Plus I took Chuck's Valkyrie down from there to make room for the VF-1D so that way I could put him back up there.
If the spring landing gear mechanism wouldn’t get in the way underneath, I might dremel out some space to fit a Dianaut in there.
You can cut off the legs from a hasegawa pilot and put him in the cockpit space for the chunky. I've done it before. Unfortunately I was looking for it last night and I can't find it. I'm also missing my photoetch parts for the 1/60 Yammie and my Fan Racer kit. They're all in the same box somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go digging. In other news I found this And if course it got partially yellowed. I need to stop storing them in box. Also got my GBP set in. Still thinking about hunting down the combo set too.
