Ok ok ok ok...wooo...I just finished messing with the VF-1S...and I...am rather VERY happy with my copy! :D  I'll explain why in a sec...but let's start with some crappy cell phone pics first :D

Much like the other two...this comes with it's own stand and the accessories as you would expect

So here's the fighter mode. This has to be one of my favorite paint schemes for the main characters from DYRL.

The air brakes (actually...I just wanted to shoot a pic of the tampos :D  )

    Gun pod placement:

And now the cockpit. I really really like how the hands actually fit where the control columns/joysticks are :D  And the pilot figure sat in there with ease, so I didn't have to wiggle the arms to get the hands to hold the controls. And of course the display. Could have used a bit of color...but meh...I still like it.

This was the only downside I have with this...but meh. It's the same with the Max 1A and the 1J. Stupid wings don't line up perfectly. Oh well.

    Gerwalk mode:

    Battroid:

I know the legs in the battroid mode look a little funny, but I'll fix that before I put it in the display. However...the head:

I am so f*cking impressed with this. Just look at the detail. Along with the articulation for the head lasers...this is the BEST VF-1S sculpt ever as @Shin Densetsu said. Now, I've seen hints of details for the eyes underneath the green visor and all....but it's actually what I thought it would be so I took another pic with the flash to bring em out:

    Wow....just wow....

Even though I missed out on the preorder pricing for this...this is in my opinion WORTH every penny I paid for it :D  But that's not the best part. While I was transforming it from Gerwalk to Battroid...the swing bar DID...NOT...separate itself. Now, to be fair, I wasn't trying to have it separate. With the 1J and the Max 1A, both of them had the swing bar come apart rather easily. But NOT this one! It actually stayed IN PLACE while I was putting on the option parts as well as throughout the transformation from Gerwalk to Battroid :D  Wooo! That had me HAPPY! I mean, it wasn't a big thing to me on the previous valks...but to have my copy have the bar stay together like it was supposed to...wow. Yup. I am a happy camper!

I cannot WAIT for the fast pack/strike parts to come :D

Awesome overview, thanks. I’m happy to hear the swing bar has been improved. That actually makes me want to go buy one now. I mean, if actually going to a shop and buying these for retail price was a thing one could do. :(

Yeah I was surprised. I had such a shit eating grin on my face as I held the valk in hand while transforming it...and it not coming apart so easily as it did with the other two I got. All the joints are stiff...nothing really loose or floppy. Man....when Roy's VF-1S comes out....I don't care, I'm getting one :lol  But yeah...I got mine right after NY ran out of their allotted stock for "preorder pricing" and ordered RIGHT away the moment they jacked it up in price the first time. I wasn't gonna miss out on this or pay the AJ prices. I'm kinda glad I did that...even though I did feel a moment of hesitation.

To bring some drama to the table, Bandai’s official stance on the mirrored tampo is that they did it on purpose so it would look better in Battroid mode. Enragement ensues on the MW thread. :p

I say, even if they change it later, people will then complain the other releases don’t match Hikaru. I’m so glad I don’t care either way. Maybe the decals that come with Metal Composite MS-06C will work as a fix? Go buy a bunch of those to find out!:D

It'll be interesting to see how the japanese-fans/owners react to it since Bandai doesn't give a fuck what overseas purchasers care about or not.

It'll be totally funny if the japanese-fans/owners return their items for refunds en masse.

If they're even allowed refunds or something.

Just hope it brings the pricing severely down to up the availability...

I think people were saying they saw a lot of bad reactions and feedback from the Japanese market regarding the whole situation.

But...That last line I bolded is what I'm hoping for too!:D  I still need to get me one of these!

Apparently Bandai is telling Japanese users that it will be corrected in the next batch   So a lot of them are rightfully pissed. Arcadia for all their crap at least tries to make it right when there is a huge mess.

The misaligned tampo is not ideal but it's a relatively small part of the whole valkyrie. It's not like the red and black stripes on it's chest were inverted or the heat cover had an emoji instead of a skull is it? :)

I do think that with the amount of detail and tampos on the 1/48, this whole beast was made with DYRL colourschemes in mind. TV versions do not translate as well with the added detail, and that's from a guy waiting for the 1A Max all his life.

Looking forward to Roy's and the DYRL Skull Squadron releases. DYRL Kakizaki 1/48 [Yamato] was my first ever Macross purchase so I'll be hard-pressed to skip that one :)

Yea the tampo mapping definitely looks more fitting given the way the mold surfaces were designed.

I'm in for a TV Roy, DYRL? Hikaru 1A and Max 1S. Also VF-1D.

I'm not familiar how hardcore JP fans/collectors are but do we really see them returning their purchases? Lol! The price seems to have plateaued at 24-25K Yen. Amazon JP still isn't offering it internationally. As far as I can see, what's available in the secondary market seems to be dwindling as well. HLJ still has open orders to be filled.

If Bandai is saying that it will be fixed in the next batch (source? Is it on the same announcement they made for the tampo excuse?), are we assuming there's a reissue happening soon?

Haha, yeah...typical misdirection to divert from bigger issues. Nice job Bandai!:D

Well...at least one of yours does :lol  None of them align on mine.

Probably. I just don't get the outrage over something like this that can be easily fixed. The wings however, from what I remember in this thread when the 1J was released...yeah not so much.

Wait, next batch? Next batch of this version (Hikaru VF-1S) or the next version? Would be nice if they made a second run right now for others to get.

I am 100% certain there will be a Hikaru 1S reissue. Macross is niche but it's the equivalent of only releasing an RX78 Gundam once.

Some of the more out there Macross colour schemes I don't see getting second releases [looking at you, 1A Max, eventual 1A Kakizaki] but the hero valk? Definitely out again or with different bells and whistles to justify a slightly altered release. See VF31 Messer/Hayate and the VF31J Hayate/Hayate Kai.

Had I received or if I ever get a 1S Hikaru, chances are it's staying in -that- battroid pose with FP so I doubt I'd ever see the misaligned tampos. Or even care to be honest. Loose joints bother me more than that :)
