Wow, pics don’t do Stealth justice. I can see why it’s a grail @borgified . It’s gorgeous. Glad you didn’t snag it first @Slave IV ! Haha
Now you know why obsured coloured 1/48 Yammie valks are grails @FireSkyJet! The colours pop out and makes it stand out. I'm sure that you have seen Kicker's, Tekering's and xoxokins collection on MW and especially on the "I still like my 1/48 Yamato" thread.
I just canceled my preorder for Arcadia's SV-51 at HLJ, if someone's really lucky, they might nab it!
Just the mainstream 1/48 Yammies @Scowly Prowl? You are certainly on the flavorless side. As the adage goes: "Variety is the very spice of life in all that gives it all it's flavour" - William Cowper. You got to kick it up a notch..
I would never presume to question how one spends their money or what they choose to collect... ...but the non-canon schemes are certainly my favorites.
Are you referring to VF-31e? NY still has it, and it’s not much of a markup at 24k. You are being redirected...
No. right at the base of the shoulder hinge points themselves. stress-whitening of the plastic can be seen;
Ha! You are so right, I should mix it up a bit. As my collection grows/explodes, I've found that variety also eats up shelf space, and it takes away from my ability to buy so many other kinds of robots that make the rest of the space so very interesting. 48s eat up a lot of display capacity, whether you have them in valkyrie or fighter mode. Gerwalk mode is just insane in terms of the space it needs. You practically need nearly a cubic foot of space to properly display a 48 in Gerwalk mode. (I hate to say this, only the Stealth variants really piqued my interest, outside of the central characters' vehicles. I would have loved Yamato to make a 1D or VE/VT variant in the 48s.)
The struggle is real. I’ve been contemplating a retail display case like @borgified recommended. This hobby only works as long as I somehow keep anything displayed looking classy enough for my wife to be satisfied. If it gets too cluttered, items have to stay in the box...which for me sucks. I like to generally unbox and display. The dilemma is that I love how solid the 1/48 feels in your hand, reminiscent of the Chunkies. They just take so much space. That and the MP TF’s don’t help. If I had to go back in time, I’d have started collecting HMRs out of the gate. They display awesome, but I’m not as willing to pay overly priced 2nd market for them. When you start paying the same or more than a DX at PO, I find it crossing a line.
A write up on the DX 31e on MW via DX超合金 VF-31E ジークフリード(チャック・マスタング機) ファイター編 レビュー Hit the translate button if you are on the phone. Edit: Here are some of the pics that I have chosen. Trying to pretend that Chuck's 31e is another version of Darth Vader's Advanced TIE fighter. First quick review of Chuck's 31e.
I had the same dilemma, but it was 48s vs. 60s. Initially, when I had space, I had the 48s over there, and the 60s over here. Now that I have been working on the MP line so diligently, all the Macross is over there. I have the DX 48 beside the Yamato 48s, underneath the Arcadia/Yamato V2 60s. I have a few HMR, too. I know at some point I'll be forced to decide which to let go.
There's so much space that a single detolf can take... You can fit at least 6 HMRs in a detolf shelf, at least three on a Trident stand and three other ones placed accordingly if you have space. I've seen up to four 1/60 valks on a Yetistand (haven't seen the either the 1/48 DX or Yammie on the Yetis yet).
I only own one 1/60 (and it's a Valkyrie Factory...I wanted to test the scale before going in on it). The new Arcadia stand does a great job of emulating the beginning of DYRL.
