The old Bandai 1:55 is my favorite. It sucks that I could only buy one (Rick's VF-1J) during the first reissues and then Toynami fizzled out on the second. Jets from the first set rarely come up on eBay and never for less than three or four times MSRP, at least from what I've seen.

Bandai 1:100 is alright but the detailing makes them feel a little more fragile than I'd like. They're nowhere near as bad as the Toynamis but not as safe as the ActionToys Eagle Robo either.

Hmm... This got very interesting quickly.

As per the MW DX VF-1 thread, for those that ordered the Strike Parts for either the Hikaru/Roy 1s from AE, your original pre-order 1st run has been pushed to April 2020.

    Proof:

Noel: For those who ordered their DX Strike Super Parts at Anime-Export, in your order page, does the item release date says April 2020? I ordered mine June 7. Paid for it. And this is before the 2nd batch preorder was announced. And during the ordering process it wasn't mentioned that the preorder that I was doing is for the April 2020 release. Kind of dumb now because if I had only known then I should've preorder 2 for the April 2020 release instead of paying one now hoping that the 1 order I have with them will get released come December. And as their policy, they don't cancel TWE items. Oh well. [IMG]

Kandas Bike: Well ain't that a kick in the teeth.

I ordered and paid on June 8th and sure enough, April 2020 for my release date as well.

    -b.

MacrossDYRL: Yes, my order status page says April 2020. Ordered mine on 6-7-19 also.

My Strike parts at Anime Export also say an April release date. Oh well, guess I won't be shipping the VF-1S together with that, I didn't mind waiting a month, but not 6!

Doesn't affect me either way, I won't be able to paint the parts up in red until the summer anyway.

I don’t think all of the orders are April. I just think they don’t have a very sophisticated site. They are using the same product page as the Dec one right now and changed release to Apr to reflect 2nd wave. But who knows. Without them confirming with someone, it’ll be a surprise.

NY isn't forthcoming with theirs either. I paid the day they had it up. I've been asking if my order was part of the Dec shipment and they've been ignoring my inquiries.

I have had some great conversations with them over various orders. I messaged them after the first wave sold out but before the second wave opened (and even before we knew it would). They responded in part with:
My order also shows a Dec release in my history.

I know some people feel iffy about contacting customer service, but I always have extremely great convos with them. I just try to respect Japanese culture as different than American and approach it that way. Seems to be met with equal respect and kind responses.

I don't think I'm rude with my inquiries. I always say hi and thank you with each response. My responses aren't demanding either.

Anyway, I'll check my order history of it says December release.

Man, you think Bandai only has 10 factory workers working 8 hrs/5 days.

Meaning December release I assume? *phew*

    REsponse from them

The chunky monkey only weighs in at 351g, (and 515g for the DX), but the Monster is over 1.6kg!

    Oh, she's awesome. :D

Yeah, I’m sure you’re not. Culture is very hierarchal there and focused on group mentality instead of focused on individuals. I tend to go above and beyond to first tell them what an amazing shop they have and service is incredible. Then just politely ask a question almost as though I don’t want to inconvenience them.

Might seem extreme, but reflective of a different culture. I don’t generally go to those extremes for US-based companies. It’s more expected that they owe us good customer service to maintain the brand rather than other way around. Anyway, I’m no expert, but just applying a bit of Cross-Cultural communication from my college days lol. Seems to garner the responses I need. *shrugs*

Heh. The KC Minmay figure looks great! Been tempted to pick it up, but more interested in Rick and Lisa TBH. Also not sure I want to start a "figure" collection alongside my various robots & mecha, I have a feeling that wouldn't go well for me.

I do hope they can continue with their figures long enough to get a main character lineup out. If they do Rick and Lisa this year and can manage Max, Miriya, Ben and Roy before HG's license goes all whatever is going to happen that'd be great!

Saw this too, they look cute! Anyone have them in hand and can comment?

    Oh cool that makes sense.

AE has a bad rep for replying to emails, but when I had an issue with my VF-1S order I called them directly and they were very helpful.

I picked them up at that price. They are a bit more fiddly than I thought they would be, and I’m not compelled to track down Rick or Roy, but overall they are worth having to mess around with at that price.
