Wow! That's barely more than the Yamato version was, and with the exchange rate so much better now this will actually end up cheaper than the Yamato for those of us in the US. Hell yeah.
If you order through the Arcadia site it will include a VF-1 gunpod as a bonus. Po's open on the 27th at noon
Would we need to find a proxy to order through their site or can any common gaijin place an order? Also curious if they require payment up front.
Gaijin are not welcomed of course We have to go the proxy way. I made an account already in the hopes of scoring one or two Payment up front im not sure, they didnt ask for any payment info when creating the account. My guess is that its probably COD
hey anubis! you're thinking of ordering through arcadia for the gunpod? too OCD i think its not worth it for two reasons. first arcadia will charge full price vs. retailers with discounts. second, the possible addition shipping it may cost: for domestic shipping from arcadia to local resident (this may be free) and then international shipping. plus proxy fees or giving a bit extra to a contact friend for his efforts to order and re ship. it's much cheaper for larger companies to get discounts on shipping so its much likely it will be cheaper shipping via hlj or big in japan, than through a proxy or individual all for a generic vf-1 gunpod... i'd rather save 20-50 bucks and get it at a shop. but i can sell you my gunpod for 50 bucks
Yea you do have a point, gotta check my stash and see if I dont have an extra couple of gunpods before buying this First thing that came to mind
Nothing is more tantalizing than forbidden fruit! I'm not going to pursue the Arcadia gunpod bonus. If my VF-4 really needs a VF-1 gunpod he can use the one from my assembly kit.
27,000 yen is a mighty fine price for the VF-4. And with retailer discounts this will be the best time to pick up a VF-4. I almost want to buy another. No one has any excuses anymore. Buy the VF-4! Filthy gaijins like us don't get the cool stuff. No guns for those crazy Americans.
Ergh. Went back and forth on this one but bit the bullet and ordered on account of the fact that the VF-1S is still my favorite Valkyrie. Despite being a "limited" release the PO is still open (even though every other HI-METAL PO closed within like 30 minutes). I don't get the appeal, this is a very weird looking Valkyrie to me. The torso is just all kinds of awkward.
That was my initial reaction and then as time went by the design grew on me. Watching toy reviews and seeing the transformation made it grow on me more. Of course by the time I realized I liked it enough to want the figure they were long gone.
same just find it very weird looking don't see the appeal to it, but apparently it's the holy grail. I probably wont get him, but might end up caving in LOL
hey OCProwl, the reason it's still open is bc it's a web exclusive and won't be carried @ retail stores. i know that sounds strange but it's actually easier to get web exlusives bc they are "made to order". specialty stores that order from the web: Nippon Yasan, AE and biginjapan will carry it. Normal import retail stores will not: such as amiami, hlj, hobby search, cdjapan. examples of web exclusives are: dx luca 171ex, isamu yf-29 which were extremely easy to get. the limited part is the stand will be only avail for till nov 4th all orders after that will not include the stand. but the valk itself is "made to order" (= unlimited). it's the normal retail releases that are hard to get a pre-order in. the good news is even the normal retail hi metal releases a lot of places have been restocking after the launch date. it's just the pre-order windows are small.
The reason this is still open is because webshop exclusives are made to order. They will take orders for about a month and then manufacture however many units are requested based on the number of orders that have been submitted. So Nippon-Yasan can basically order as many of these things as they like. This is different from non-exclusive releases where stores only secure a certain amount of product based on availability and warehouse storage space.
I have no connection to the VF-4G or the VF-0S but the 0S is preordered and I'll most likely cave in for the 4G as well. I'm a sucker for Macross and looking at all the pics has broken me. I just said f it and ordered the Focker Hi-Metal too even though I vowed not to get those just because it will go with the Regult I ordered earlier. You only live once right?
Thank you both for the explanation! So although it is easier to get now, would it be harder to get later? It's too bad there is no discount.
That's correct. Once the order period closes, you'll be relying on the secondary market (Ebay, Mandarake, etc) if you want to get it down the road, usually at a higher mark-up.
