Not sure if there is a Robotech thread, but does anyone have any info on the Robotech 30th anniversary alpha fighters that are being re-released by Toynami in all plastic? They are up for pre-order for $140 a piece which is double the price of what I paid for them when they initially came out.

The original ones that came in a book style packaging like the macross masterpieces? If so, I have them somewhere in my house lol. I just never picked up the betas.

Yeah they are apparently being re-released but in all plastic since the other series were limited editions. I picked up doubles of each of the 4 alphas and the 3 betas, but wanted to know if the quality of these was going to be different and if the molds were going to be "updated" or "changed". $140 seems steep though.

Well i finally got mine.. Mine had a scratch out of the box, didnt even get a chance to tape :(  The feet were not hard at all to pull out on my copy. Aside from the scratch im loving it! Gerwalk mode wins on this one.

BBTS has preorders with stock photos? not sure. also toynami facebook page has some stock photos as well. They seem to be photos of the original release. Not sure if they are going meto be releasing the same mould with less metal or what. The shadow fighter does not appear to be on track for release though.

Instead of blue comparisons---white comparisons. Compare to "TV VF-1 white" and "DYRL VF-1 grey" if possible.

Landing gear---free-rolling, resistant to collapsing when rolled? Do gears lock "vertical" or at odd angles? (always bugs me when a nosegear locks, but in the "wrong" position leading to poor gunpod clearance)

Gear doors---how flush when closed? Do they stay in position when opened and not flop about?

    Gunpod--straight? (in all axes). Tight?

Never heard of it being reissued. But they're probably just as "good" as the originals......ok they weren't that good. That's why all of mine are back in their packaging :lol

I was wondering about the Alphas too. I have the first release and to this day it's the only toy that's ever made me consider that the anti-die-cast crowd might have a point. While I would buy the original 198X Alpha at $140, there's no way in hell that I can justify paying so much for a Toynami product.

Me neither. I remember when Aoshima were to release theirs, but then I realized just by looking at the pictures that they were Toynami's crap but in Aoshima packaging. I know they had the plastic models released shortly before they did the Toynami crap, but I really can't say that I'd be too confident that this new version is going to be better. I'll wait for reviews.

    My bad. Here you go.

The delta wings on the 0D make it so unique. It's up there with the 4G as my favorites right now just because they're so different.

You are awesome. Thank you! So it appears the 0D blue is still more faded than the hue we usually get. <sigh> okay.......I ordered it again.

There definitely is a more powdery/faded look to the 0D.
