Great to know about the build-quality this time. The old Yamato MZero-line valks (VF-0xx and SV-51s) were all stupidly made with the same lousy fragile low-quality easily-breakable plastic materials as on the Garland. It's like some jackass factory conned Yamato into using them.
It appears to be 100% brand new parts. Some parts are very similar, and it wouldn't surprise me if they started with the same CAD files. But for example, all the panels lines are MUCH shallower and narrower, like the more recent stuff. Then you've got things like different screw placement, screw covers, notches for the assumed Reactive Armor, just lots of little stuff like that. Well, the little thrusters in the backpack might be the same Nope, like the rest of the bird, similar, but sturdier. Still the same stupid design tho.
I'm kind of shocked at how sturdy this is. Every single floppy thing about the previous run has been addressed. The 0D does not topple over easily. It holds upright amazingly well.
You know how the previous version had exploding shoulders and upper arms. All that is a metal skeleton wrapped in plastic now.
for those that haven't watched it (or haven't followed the 0D-thread over at MWF), yet, here's vf5SS' video-review of the Arcadia VF-0D 1/60 for CDX... 1/60 scale Perfect Transformation VF-0D Phoenix Shin Version from Macross Zero - CollectionDX - YouTube First video-review of it (english and/or non-english), I reckon.
The only thing I will say regarding the whole issue with the "dark blue" paint job is the only mode I find I really notice it is in robot/battroid, something about the dark blue that puts me off. Otherwise this toy is amazing, solid up the line, I think those who are passing on this are missing out. I really hope we get a version 2.0 of all the Macross Zero figures now as just checking my VF-0S it looks ROUGH by comparison.
Can't wait until Shin's VF-0A is finally redeemed Glad the 0D is a huge improvement it seems, from Yamato's VF-0's. Thank goodness as they've been working on this for quite a while
I can't pull out the feet/thrusters casually. It takes a lot of effort. That's how tight the thing is.
Sounds like the 0D is a success so far, that's great! I'd feel like I was missing out if there wasn't an S&A coming soon. Really looking forward to those.
What if Arcadia decides to troll and cut costs by simply reissueing the old 0S and 0A? That would be HIGH-LARIOUS!
