LOVE the artwork. Visually it's incredible. But the writing seems dreadful. How is her singing supposed to help besides make her an open target? Is this the series people have such a hard time getting through?
Umm... No. This is the one that everyone loves.... To be fair, to take a central concept like that without the background concept of the not just this series but the entire run, is difficult. It makes way more sense in the context of the series and other shows. I know how it seems, but give it a go and watch through and try not to get turned off by this one event. It will make more sense in a broader picture.
M7 is the worst. I have no idea why people like it haha. I don't even consider it Macross. The only good thing that came out of it was seeing the VF-11.
I liked it from like episode 25 when it gets in gear until the very end.... Hated that ending getting through those first episodes though was a snoozefest.
I made it through half of the first episode way back in the day. Does that count? On a separate note, I just purchased the 1/3000 scale Yamato SDF-1.... Im starting my collection all over again.
Eh, plenty of people love Macross 7 - it's just that most of them are in Japan. I love it, honestly. It stands as my favorite Macross series right after SDFM. The only one that hasn't aged well for me is Frontier. I loved it at first but I grow increasingly bored with it each time I try to re-watch. I still haven't made it all the way through the movies.
They'll have to offer an English dub before I can watch them. I read too slowly, causing me to miss a lot of the subtitles and most of the action.
I agree. Frontier was ok the first time through, but the 2nd and third time....I couldn't finish it. I liked Macross Zero more.
I don't hate 7 but I'm not a huge fan of it either, for me it's one of those shows were if I had seen it growing up I would probably love it but watching it with adult eye's is a hard sell. For me though I would not go so far as to say it's unwatchable but it does not hold my interest for very long either as I usually get through 4-5 episodes at a time before I get bored with it. Macross Frontier on the other hand...
Wow! that looks sooo good! Started collecting Transformers Leader Class figures from ROTF & DOTM & now I'm collecting Transformers MP's But the 30th Annivesary VF-1J by Arcadia was heavily discounted so though I'd get it & was really impressed by the quality which surpasses MP's IMO Now I have a Yamato VF-1A movie version on the way and an Arcadia VF-1S Roy. Got the VF-1S Roy for £90 shipped which after heavy online research seems a steal. Anything I should look out for when it arrives? do KO's plague these figures like they do the MP's?
No KO's of Yamato/Arcadia stuff. Only KO's I know of are Joons 1/55 VF-1, 1/55 VF-1 by other companies and the KO's of the DX VF-17's and VF-19's. Both KO 19's have hands on the wrong arms while the KO VF-19S has the Fire Valkyrie wings and canards which are inaccurate for a 19F/S.
M7 is the best. I have no idea why people don't like it haha. I consider it the essence of Macross. The only bad thing that came out of it was seeing Milia not piloting the red VF-19... ..and thus not being the hero of an awesome anime. I hope Arcadia does a red VF-1J with black trim. ...Macross Zero on the other hand.... [edit:]Sorry couldn't resist.
Macross Zero is the dog of the franchise to me. M7 I enjoy because it's the most sequel like of all the subsequent series with Max and Miriya. Plus the little Plus shorts at the end are fun like where you see Milia flying a VF-11. In truth I think I've seen M7 more times than SDFM. Macross Frontier was decent but I probably need to rewatch it. I think I've only gone through it once. My biggest complaint is that there are too many homages to previous series. Alto saving Ranka at the start, Miss Macross pageant, filming a movie about a previous Macross series. It's kind of fun the first time but then it makes me think that they ran out of original ideas.
Those Joons Valks were garbage. I had the green VF-1J and the Max and Millia VF-1Js back in the day. The chest plate felt crappy and extremely cheap (as if it would snap on me at any moment. Not only that, they were somewhat difficult in sliding up an down for transformation. On one of them, the rear landing gears would not stay folded in the legs. I had to return them to the shop I bought them from when I lived in CA.
