The Lost Boys is ripe for a remake. The ending of the original hints at so much unexplored lore. However, this is modern Hollywood, this is going to suck.
Take your bets will it be a gender or race swapped reboot? Because that's how they think now. Also will the vampires be actual vampires and evil, or will they claim they are just a misunderstood group. Oh there are so many ways this remake will likey prove unnecessary and so many ways they can make it a terrible reboot with today's Hollywood script writing done by a committee writers then run by a diversity and sensitivity checking team. By that point they have scrubbed everything even slightly interesting out of the script.
That transition from the second verse into the chorus @ 2:10-ish was painful. That said, it didn't cause my ears to explode but I see what you mean about not quite getting the notes right. I could see a director do something unique with it. But def doesn't hold a candle to the original. This might be blasphemous but add Night of the Living Dead to that list. Patricia Tallman and Tony Todd absolutely slayed in that movie. It's sad too because the only reason why they keep rebooting or remaking is usually to keep the IP rights, quality be damned. You worried me there. I thought they really were redoing Falling Down. .
I actually agree. I do prefer the remake of Night of the Living Dead as well. Patricia Tallman was awesome in that movie, and Tony Todd was good too.
It might be because I saw the PT/TT version first but I remember being impressed with how straight they played it. I was used to horror movies becoming camp by the 40 minute mark (if that) and folks just start tossing out one-liners left and right. But start to finish, the movie held it's tone in place, which is really hard to do.
We are probably safe on that one as long as Micheal Douglas is still around, but it's now viable reboot fodder now that the director has passed. It's not happening yet, but really, it's only a matter of time. The subject matter of the movie also probably makes it safe for a bit considering current society.
No that got canned ‘The Lost Boys’ Movie In Works At Warner Bros After CW Pilot Not Moving Forward – Deadline The CW opted to move ahead with the new Kung-Fu series instead
Oh, I thought they were doing both, but then again they already have Legacies which is a spin-off of The Originals that was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, so they might have thought we already have enough vampire shows. And the Kung Fu reboot seems to be doing well for them.
It's about having more content now over having quality content. They have so many competing services they need filler content.
