Oh great, so now they can ruin The Long Halloween just like they did with The Killing Joke and are doing so with Hush.

Also, what the friggin fucking hell? Why am I not seeing any, "DC is making an animated Flash movie?" Or "DC is making an animated Spectre movie?" Or "DC is making an animated Jonah Hex movie?" Or "DC is making an animated <norelationtoBatmanwhatsoever> movie?"

Because the Batman cash cow hasn't been run over to death, enough yet.

I agree with your sentiment except for the Hush part. I don't think Hush is ruinable. You can't dumb it down because it's already dumb. Whatever they do and whatever changes they may make, animated Hush will be about as good as it ever was.

But Long Halloween... Yeah, I can see that losing a lot in translation.

This will apprantly be a stand-alone. So, I guess that means not a part of the shared Animated universe.

I think they should make a Knightfall movie. Knightfall as movie 1 & Knightquest/Knight's End as movie 2

Now that story is Prime two part material. I haven’t read The Long Halloween yet, so I don’t know if it qualifies for this.

But Knightfall definitely does due to its similar nature to the Death and Return of Superman.

I disagree. Hush was an incredible story. The plot twist with Hush was awesome too.

They largely gave up on non-Batman, non-JL movies when Green Lantern: First Flight and Wonder Woman sold poorly.

They should at least do more of those shorts, though. Like the ones they included as extras on dvds. I really liked that 1970s style Spectre one that came on the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths disc.

Did those two really sell poorly though or was it just because they shipped less of them?

I was working at Best Buy when those films came out and we sold out of both WW and GL on Day 1. However, when they released Batman vs Superman Public Enemies, we received three times as many copies as WW and GL. If I recall, we got in about 50 copies for the former two and 150 copies of PE. We never sold out of PE, but we had more copies available throughout the entire week compared to GL and WW.

Well thanks to the Wonder Woman movie being such a success, we’re getting a new Animated film sometime this year.

    Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

Who knows. Sales information isn't something that's usually publicly available. It's just something companies release to toot their own horn, when it suits them. But that's the excuse we've been fed ever since for why the rest of DC's roster goes under-represented compared to Batman, and it's as good an answer as any.

But they made two animated green lantern films so the first must have done ok to get a second film.

Actually, GL sold very well for them having out sold all their previous releases and even a few released afterwards.

Then maybe it was just Wonder Woman. I dunno. I have no insider knowledge here. I'm just parroting the excuse that I've heard along the way, possibly filtered through my crappy memory since it's been, what, 5+ years?

Which is a poor excuse. As Aquaman proved, people will go see it if it is well written regardless of who the character is. Then again, Marvel proved this years ago with Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.

It was also 5+ years ago when those decisions were made. Minds can change in that time.

Also keep in mind that these direct-to-video releases have much different yield expectations than a theatrical film. A theatrical film has time to build word of mouth buzz, plus all the ad campaigns and stuff in order to boost the film's profile. A direct-to-video feature, on the other hand, is pretty much sold purely as an impulse buy. It has to impress on the spot, and that's an easier feat with "S-Class" characters, even moreso than even A-listers, let alone B-listers.
