I think it's great that kids today will have a starting point to get into this great movie. The animation looks rather on-par with the original film. And the fact they have cultural consultants convinced me this won't be a cheap cash in, that there's some effort being put into it.

Wait, Lion King is getting another movie?
Not that I hate the Animal Kingdom adaptation of Hamlet, It just doesn't make any sense to me. They milked that story for what it was worth in the subsequent decade after it came out with:
A Sequel, a Cartoon Spinoff starring the Comic Relief, a Direct-To-DVD Spinoff starring the Comic Relief (that, surprisingly enough, wasn't all that bad), and a motherloving Stage Show on Broadway.

No, a series on Disney Junior that looks to be getting some effort put into it. Not that the franchise ever really sold out to me. The Timon and Pumbaa show was funny and the sequels were rather decent.

Anything that educates kids about conservation gets a thumbs-up from me, and I'm intrigued by this show having an expert in Swahili as cultural advisor, it could end up with a really authentic African look and feel to it. I may actually watch this when it begins.

This is completely unexpected. This could either be interesting or stupid.
