So who else is thinking of buying Lego over the next few days? Normally, I’d stay home and pretend the outside world doesn’t exist during this madhouse of sales, but I find it hard to say no to a 25% discount on the Lion Knights Castle.

In case no one is aware, LEGO Icons will have a licensed space set (10341) next Spring. However, I have a feeling it'll be based on something like NASA.

Not to mention 42605 Mars Space Base and Rocket (Friends, $90) and the Space-themed CMF wave. We’re eating good next year.

    I'm guessing it's in-store only?

No, it also applies to Shop@Home (especially for Cyber Monday). Here’s a video that clarifies the Reddit post I linked.

Huge selection of big-ticket sets on sale at Lego.com for Black Friday (although there's currently a queue to access the site, haha).

...Including Lion Knights Castle at 25% off! :rock Never ordered anything so fast in my life. :lol  Been waiting for a sale ever since it was first revealed!

Was the little castle reward in stock initially? (The one you redeem points for)

You will love it, one of my favorite sets from last year.

It was, it "sold out" fast though.

It must have, I went straight to the rewards page after the queue finally let me in, but it was gone.

You expressed my thoughts exactly. While I'm not opposed to conflict in sets, I don't think it needs to be a requisite for certain themes. Space was one of the original three themes introduced in 1978, and it was completely conflict-free, focusing primarily on exploration. It encouraged imagination and in no small way set LEGO on a path to incredible success from the late 70s through the 90s. I've missed having original space themes over the past decade and I heartily welcome sets like 10497 Galaxy Explorer which celebrate the humble beginnings of LEGO Space. I was beginning to be content with Icons becoming the home for the occasional vintage Space themed homage, but this apparent new direction of using City Space as a vehicle for introducing sci-fi space in the vein of Classic Space fills me with enthusiasm and yearning. I'm excited to see more, and hope it proves successful, inspiring more sets of its ilk as an evergreen theme henceforth. The beauty of combining CS-styled sets with City is that they can produce sets grounded in today's or near-future technology as well as more imaginative and far-flung sci-fi all in the same theme, and that's just fine by me. I'm just happy to have original sci-fi space sets again. It's heartwarming to see that CS logo on the box and I can only hope it becomes a fixture going forward.

Hey try again, I was just able to secure one.

Amazon has some good deals happening. Tallneck is 40% off and that set is retiring this year so if you want it, now's the time.

FYI: The little VIP grey castle is back/available. Dunno if it came and went yesterday but when I was looking, it said sold out.

I'd been waiting to use some VIP points to knock the Lion Knight Castle down to $300, and then they go and do it for me. So I cashed in $100 to knock it down to half price. Still qualified for both GWPs, too.

Also in the VIP rewards you can redeem points for $5 at a discounted rate of 75% off. Can redeem for up to 3 codes and yes you can use them all in a single purchase. So you basically get $15 off for redeeming the equivalent of $3.75 in points.

If you didn't know you can still redeem now and you have 60 days to use the codes, just like any other VIP reward.
