Huge thanks for the kind comments. I encourage you to keep at it; you'll find a solution that satisfies eventually. Looking forward to seeing the final model.
It's just the analytical, frugal side of me griping. Driving around and spending 15 minutes feeling up a few dozen bags isn't the best use of my time, especially if I only want 1 or 2 figures from a wave. Its really the principle of the matter spending $10 on eBay for specific figures, even if I waste more money driving around and spending time feeling up bags.
Just went to the Barnes & Noble in Ithaca, NY and they had a ton of series 24 and 23 as well as nearly a full box of the Muppets series, which was surprising to see. So if you’re in the area and looking for those, head there.
Rivendell pic up at the usual place! Minifigure scale hitting the main locations from the movies. It looks quite nice. I’m not sure I need it - there are other locations that stand out way more for me from the trilogy, but it looks to be well done.
Technically not Lego, but they're Transformers and made out of Lego-style pieces, so hopefully allowed? Finally got all of these built; it would be great to find more of them as MOCs if anyone has seen them.
Jeez, Lego! Just go ahead and make everything I ever wanted, why don't you?? X-Mansion is my number-one set wish (at least now that Lion Knights Castle already exists). Barad-Dur and Medieval Village are fantastic too. (And since it's Lego, I could just leave the silly giant eye off of Barad-Dur; that was one description that the movies interpreted way too literally, haha.) This still seems too good to be true; I wouldn't believe it if the pictures weren't already floating around. Speaking of those, what we can see of Rivendell looks GREAT (and minifig scale!! ) but too small to be 6000 pieces / $500, so I assume the picture is just one section of the overall set? Looks fantastic anyway; love the architecture, the foliage, and the detailed roof pattern, even if all those 1x1 tiles are gonna be a time-consuming build. (Low-res pic under spoiler tags for the leak-averse.) Spoiler Yeah, I wouldn't judge any of those preliminary pictures too harshly. The ones presumably scheduled for future years, like the X-Mansion and Barad-Dur, are definitely rough mock-ups / early proofs-of-concept; I'd expect the designs of the final sets to be way more polished. It sounds like the X-Mansion pic in particular might be a cancelled 2014-era design that's just being used as a placeholder image. I'm confident the final product would be Daily Bugle / Sanctum level in terms of size and detail. I just hope all these concepts actually make it to production. I could never afford all of them... but I still want them to exist!
Finally saw the new CMFs in my area of Maine yesterday. felt several, picked three, thought I had the French Woman (the skirt part is obvious), the dinosuit (by the headpiece), and the Falconer - which turned out to be the Mecha Suit; what I thought was the big falcon was the helmet. I need to find a feel guide.
Spend two days to do this, did half the bags yesterday and the other half today. Gonna swing by Lego and see if I can make a back stand for this so I can display it on my counter instead of hanging it. Pic is it standing on the frame but a little wind will knock it down.

Man as much as I love LotR and am pumped that they're making new sets, I could never bring myself to drop $500 on this.
I can't take credit for them, I borrowed them from this mech frame I found on Google. But the changes I made to have it fit my Gundam ended up clipping parts during movement so I'm trying to redesign them I hope someone makes a sticker set for these two faces. I would like to build them on my own but kinda pointless without the exclusive face prints These are great, may I ask where you got them? I especially like that Hound. The gear for the Jeep grill is clever Here's one of Optimus I designed a while back
I got them off of Aliexpress a few years back but can't seem to find an active listing. Here's another listing that is out of stock but has the part numbers: DECOOL 6859-6870 Transformers
I'm wondering: if this is the complete set, then... maybe the reported price and piece count are wrong? (Has happened with leaks before.) Maybe it's actually a smaller, more "affordable" set in the $250-300 range, like the Bugle or Sanctum. I certainly wouldn't complain. A Rivendell set doesn't need to be ridiculously large if they just want to focus on the iconic locations/scenes in the film: council, bridge, hall with the shards of Narsil & statue, and Elrond's library are the main areas I'd hope to see included. Guess we'll find out soon!
Today's haul. Picked up pieces to make a stand for the Great Wave so I could display it on my counter. Thought it looked enough when I was there...Will pick up more pieces to extend it a little more & add to the other braces for more stability. And picked up the last in stock Lego Speed 2F2F Skyline. They had 4 new blindpack boxes (whatever its called), one of the workers helped me out trying to look for thr Spaceman figure but didnt end up feeling one. ...also bought the Disney 100th Anniversary Brickheadz. That's tomorrow's build.
RX 78 2 update. Lower body design is completely done and I'm quite satisfied with how they turned out. Now to the hard part. The upper torso is giving me an aneurysm trying to figure out the complex geometry in a stable way and still fit in a minifigure Edit: and for those who don't know much about Gundam, it's this guy And here's the messy photoshop I cobbled together for reference
Just make sure the torso also includes a transforming core fighter. In all seriousness, looks great so far!
