Thank you for providing the link. I like what I'm seeing a lot, but ultimately I won't be getting the set (or ordering to get the GWP). Had it been a Blacktron II set however, I would have placed an order for whatever in a heartbeat
Neat. Not as neat as the original though. I will probably buy the Tie Bomber plus a few Minecraft houses to get to $150.
It’s a neat GWP but I’m getting kind of tired of sets like this getting locked behind high paywalls. Lately any of the ones that are worthwhile are with purchases of $190-$250 in Canada. Can’t really justify dropping a couple hundred dollars on my self a week or two after Christmas. Just seems like poor timing.
So the Bionicle GWP leaked as well. Thought this rumor was fake, but glad it wasn’t. I know a Bionicle revival is unlikely at best, but doing sets like this at a $10-$15 price point like the Marvel mechs would go over well I think. Only two things I’m concerned about: 1. I’m surprised they locked it behind a “theme wall”, and unfortunately none of the themes I collect. Might just bite the bullet on the secondary, depending on how much that is. 2. I really hope those faces are printed, and not stickers.
I'll definitely have to figure out how to get the Blacktron set. Bionicle - I'm good with my originals from 2000. This GWP somehow missed the mark. Like where are the actual technic/Bionicle pieces that makes them what they are, rather than just another mech suit rehash?
Eh. I don’t think they look too bad. Definitely a departure, but this is the closest LEGO is going to get to “action figure” sets from now on, ever since they killed the original Bionicle design and CCBS. I would definitely prefer a return to the latter systems, but this isn’t a bad attempt to “update” a Bionicle.
The original Bionicles were a bit rough in some ways themselves, and the brick built version seems mainly harmed by the constraint of the gray balljoint pieces. Recreating the originals would be cute. I guess making one as a gated bonus like this is a way of testing the waters. I mean, what is it gonna do? Not sell?
This is all I can think of seeing those faces The builds themselves aren't bad for the scale, but the faces just seem so odd being so flat.
Is anyone else consistently getting a message accusing them of being a bot when they try to log into Lego.com? It's just a little GWP set. Were you expecting new moulded pieces? Yeah it's pretty shitty to lock it behind such a high paywall and certain themes. Right after Christmas also really sucks because the vast majority of people are done spending for a while after the holidays. This is a pretty dick move by Lego, not gonna lie.
Honestly I’m not a fan of the Bionicle GWP. I am upset that the Blacktron one is as well, mainly because I love that set. I’m sure I can find a way to buy 300 dollars worth of LEGO, but at the moment my wallet is not happy.
Well if anyone isn't a fan of the Bionicle GWP but does want to buy $100+ of those select themes on Jan 27, I'd gladly buy it off of you lmao. No, really. I absolutely would. I do not have any interest in those themes but really want that GWP...
Its what I want at least. For not being CCBS they capture my nostalgia for the first movie and that fire surfing. And if the face on Tahu is a tad squished it is otherwise quite charming GWP on the other hand I will probably pass on, especially with two in a row that I want, easier to just get neither. And yeah, right after Christmas too, but not so soon it hits the boxing day sales. Certainly a choice
I am quite digging the retro remake GWPs - granted, that's two now. But, like so many others, there's not enough that I'm aiming for to make the freebie (and yeah, especially right after Xmas). Dumb question time: can you just buy the GWP sets outright? I swear that option was offered to me for one of 'em last year.
