So I've been checking/watching/waiting for a restock on the Creator Fish Tank (currently a Walmart "exclusive"), it's been sold out for months at Walmart and Lego shop. Lego online even says now "we're not likely to get this in time for the holidays" which was bumming me out because it was the last thing on my daughter's Christmas wishlist. Yesterday it seemed to be available from Walmart but the website would NOT let me add it to cart no matter what I tried. It said it was available for pickup TODAY at my local store so decided to chance an in-person visit and found two on the shelf! Grabbed both because I might gift the other one to my brother-in-law who used to have an aquarium, but super stoked to get one for our kid haha. Haven't had that kind of "in store" hunt success in a long time! :lol

After nearly two months of shipping by boat, I finally got and built the new LEGO DC Batman Batmobile Tumbler: Scarecrow Showdown set and it's a big beefy boy. While I really like the parts they used to get the overall shaping of the Tumbler correct (a vehicle which is very difficult to get the slopes and angles right), I can't get over just how large this thing is.

    20211125_135047_copy_1008x508.jpg

A comparison with the official Tumbler (left) and my custom MOC Tumbler (right). It's neat how different techniques were used in each to try to achieve some of the same angles. The official one is very sturdy (it's both tough and heavy feeling) and can withstand a lot of rough play (especially with kids) but it's huge and tank-y, while I feel that my MOC is more sporty and military space age stealth Lamborghini in-hand (with more fragile bits too).

More comparison images spoilered for length:

    20211125_133501_copy_1008x756.jpg 20211125_135144_copy_1003x488.jpg 20211125_133707_copy_1008x756.jpg 20211125_133822_copy_1008x756.jpg

I dig the shaping of the canopy on the official Tumbler using the three Speed Champions windows and the clip/handle pieces to form the frames. While I like the spoiler pieces to form the winglets on the rear airfoils, I do think they sit up a little too high on the official vehicle plus the lack of the side air intakes is disappointing (they should be situated just forward of the rear tires similar to the 1989 Batmobile). Lego got a little lazy there when they omitted them.

My MOC does have the side air intakes and uses the same spoiler pieces for the winglets but I feel the angling is bit more correct (achieved with more fragile hinge and clip pieces, kept in place with a single stud each). I dig the rear wheel assembly on the custom Tumbler more too since I think it's more accurate with the details like the suspension with the hose pieces.

The official Tumbler is built like a tank though and has much more space in its cockpit so it's easier to get minifigs in and out. My custom is a much tighter fit but has more stickered panel pieces showing off the various screens, dials, and gauges inside.

Still, the official set is a welcome addition to my growing Lego Batmobile collection!

More random photos of my MOC:

Comparison of the official Scarecrow (right) minifigure with a custom printed one (plus an alternate head with Doctor Crane's unmasked face and hair piece).

And finally, I customized the GCPD police car that came with the Batman Batwing and The Riddler Heist. I didn't like how squat and low the roof was with the official instructions so I rebuilt it using additional pieces to make it more like a Dodge Charger, with just enough space in the rear seat for a minifig (an incarcerated sad-faced Joker, in this case).

I just went to redeem my VIP points for $100 to use towards getting the AT-AT and accidentally clicked on the in-store voucher rather than for use on lego.com. FML and it reminds me how much I hate this new VIP system. Having to redeem points for vouchers/codes before using them rather than just selecting them as a payment method during checkout (or just tell them to apply in store when you are buying something) is a pita. And the icing on the cake is that they expire if you don't use them after a couple months, and Lego gets to just keep your money. Now if I can't get them to re-credit the points back to my account I'll have to make a trip to an actual Lego store probably to use up my $100 before it expires, and I'll have to suck it up and pay full price for the AT-AT for now. Has anyone gotten them to apply the voucher to an online purchase after-the-fact?

    Should be.

AT-AT IS LIVE!!!! Don't have the extra Santa's set, but the lightsaber is in the bag.

Edit: Got the AT-AT, tin, and lightsaber right before 9:00 PM.

When I added the AT-AT to my cart, it added the tin sign and the lightsaber as well. I also had a code ready to add the vintage camera, so I put that in. When I checked out, the tin sign was gone, and the Santa's Front Yard was there instead. I dunno what happened, but didn't really care about either, it was just a bonus, so I left it and completed my order.

Now I'll just have to see if I can get them to apply that $100 to the order tomorrow when customer service is open again.

Lego Store's Black Friday discounted sets are pretty disappointing this year.

they re-credited them for me when I made the same mistake a few Black Fridays back.

this was actually the most painless order I’ve made at release ever…it was up just before 12, added to my cart, added my discount codes, and checked out without any lag whatsoever. Lightsaber and Santa’s yard included. It’s really refreshing - kudos lego!

Yeah I had no problems with timeouts or errors when ordering. Everything went through like any normal day with no delays. Pretty impressive Lego! (compared to horrible experiences we've seen in the past.)

Yeah - I think it was all down to timing. Slightly before 12 EST and you got the tin, slightly after and you got the yard. Entering my codes slowed me down. I’d have preferred the tin but I’m selling that second GWP off regardless.

Yeah, I laughed that I got the tin. Was hoping for a second Santa's Front Yard, but I primarily wanted the lightsaber so either was nice.

I jumped on the site and added the AT-AT at :59 and got the tin at that time. By the time I added the camera and got through the checkout progress, it probably had been a minute or so and I guess it switched to the Yard? Oh well, like I said either is fine with me, but kind of funny how it just changed on me with no notice.

Just nabbed the UCS AT-AT. Got a little slowed down inputting my $50 off VIP code so I ended up with the Santa's Yard GWP. No big deal.

I plan to sell off the Luke Skywalker Lightsaber GWP to help soften the blow of this mega purchase since I already have a kickass custom Lego MOC of the lightsaber hilt from Demonhunterbricks (and that build is fully 1:1 scale instead of being smaller than accurate scale like the GWP).

    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Hahaha. The lightsaber was the reason I was stalking the site before 9PM. I mean I want the AT-AT as well, but the lightsaber is the primary reason for the purchase. Sort of the reason I have Most Eisley from last year.

On a side note, I still haven't gotten my email confirmation, so I guess they are a bit slowed down. The order does show in My Account now though, so I feel pretty secure. (Also took screenshots after checkout just in case.)
