I'd caution you to perhaps keep an eye on the items you're interested in getting. I think once November hits people are going to realize "oh it's time to do holiday shopping" so who knows if some items will be out of stock (temporarily unless it's a set that's retiring this year, see LEGO Shop US Confirms Exclusives Retiring Soon - The Brick Fan) by the time VIP weekend rolls around. Hot items will switch to "backordered until X" date, with that date getting further and further back until it says "will ship in 60 days" before going to "Out of Stock" status (not backorderable). If you don't mind waiting though, anything you DO order during Double VIP and/or GWP events will get those beneifts, even if the item is backordered and won't ship out; basically as long as you can get an order in, you're good. I actually emailed LEGO a day or two ago about that and the rep that messaged me back said that despite not being on the calendar it appeared to still be on track for a gwp release on the 25th.

This weekend there is a sale at the biggest toy retailer here, everything is 25% off, so I decided it was time to buy the Discovery. I was really hopeful since last time I went there (which admittedly was more than a month ago) they had multiple copies on the shelves. Imagine my delusion when I went to the Lego isle and there was no shuttle in sight....the Saturn V will have to stay alone for a while longer.
Those ships are freaking awesome! Just a heads up, this holiday season may be a bit lean as far as abundant offerings will go. Distribution problems have not been solved and the "holiday rush" to stock up hasn't happened yet and it doesn't look like that will be changing any time soon. I can tell you that Hasbro, at least, is getting some stuff out now, but I'm at the beginning of the supply chain where I work and shipping stuff out to the rest of the country is no faster then it has been for the last year and a half. Everything we want more of is still sitting in the harbors waiting to be unloaded. So it's a slow trickle. That's not going to change for Christmas. If you see it, grab it. You won't get another chance later.

I was waiting with f5 refreshing the site haha, it's my gf's Christmas present so didn't want to miss it. The chamber of secrets was the last set she needed for the 2021 stuff, so gryffindor dorm was a nice incentive to get it now.
