My LUG has a AFOL day coming up at our local LEGO store next weekend so I think I need to hold off on these promos.

I want the NES, but don't really like the TV gimmick. Would have preferred other accessories like a Zapper and R.O.B. or even just a second controller.

Surprised it didn't sell out at midnight.

    Ebay:
I'm not surprised. It's $300 in Canada. Granted piece count isn't always an accurate gauge for value but for the same price you can get the 89 Batmobile which has 700 + more pieces and has 3 exclusive minifigs. I think if this came with some minifigs it would have been more desirable. Or if they had a launch bonus like the batmobile and gave you a second controller and Luigi sprite or something.

The LEGO fan in me thinks it's fantastic. I would love to see the engineering of the moving screen and build it myself. Otherwise it is just two boxes and a couple rectangles so I can understand why someone wouldn't want it. I can't say I'm a big enough Mario fan to make it a must have.

If you are a videogame guy you can literally get a vintage NES complete with excellent box and in fantastic shape for $250 on eBay. You could play the actual game as it was originally made for less. If you want to spend even less you can get the Classic NES for like $100 or so.

It's a tough sell. I'd like to get it, but there are a lot of other sets I would want first.

I picked up the NES. It pushes a lot of buttons for me... no pun intended.

It's funny, because I'm not even what I'd call a gamer. The last system I owned was a Wii, and I never play any modern games aside from fiddling around with SimCity on my phone, haha. But 80's NES and 90's SNES games were my thiiiiiing back then. I really, really like the retro CRT TV that comes with this set, and just the way it looks displayed. I agree that it would be even more enticing with a Zapper or with a couple of Mario minifigs in there, but for what it is I like it a lot.

I guess now I have to pick up a small Mario set to try that electronic feature. Will have to see what the cheapest one is that comes with a Mario, haha...

Unfortunately, Mario only comes with the starter set. But yeah that NES set looks awesome.

At this point I’m holding off for a GWP I really want and/or double points for some of these bigger items. The wait is hard but bricktober is in sight!

I am surprised the NES is still available (not even backordered yet) while the Grand Piano is now temporarily out of stock (can't backorder). I know there are more piano enthusiasts than Nintendo but most of the reactions I read online was that the piano was too expensive.

Guys I found the best deal ever today. All of these were built, but I just picked up:

    Cafe Corner
    Green Grocer
    Detective's Office
    Grand Emporium
    Pet Shop
    Brick Bank
    Town Hall
    Diner

All for $500, all genuine LEGO, no boxes but instructions included. Like I'm in shock this happened I'm never this lucky.

Ah, thanks, that's a shame... but I can live without the feature! It'll be there in case I ever want to try it, I guess. (Not really interested in getting any of the other Mario sets.)

Indeed. $50 CAD is a lot but both the figures are only in expensive sets (I read this Luke has some new printing as well?)
