Watch the first trailer for The Last of Us Part Two
I am dying from the excitement right now!
omg omg omg
Can't wait to get depressed again!
One of the most needless game sequels ever.
On one hand, I'm excited, on the other, I'm pissed. There was no need to bring Ellie and Joel back since their story was done,
If it wasn't Naughty Dog doing it, then I would agree. I highly doubt they would make a sequel if they didn't have more story to tell. I've listened to Neill Druckmann talk about it on numerous occasions. It's his baby, so I don't see him selling out. Plus, he is such a great writer that I don't see him making something so bad that it taints the greatness of the original either. The first trailer really shows off the same kind of tone the original had, and I think it hints at a different direction. I'm hoping that it will have a bigger focus on the Fireflies and more of a main antagonist this time.
By the way, during the recent panel on the game, it's been confirmed that Ellie is actually the main playable character this time.
I feel like Joel's story is complete but Ellie's isn't. If Joel's role is reduced down to being a side character I would be happy.
Very brief story details for the game, confirming that Ellie is going to be the playable character this time around.
If I may so bold/stupid, judging by Druckmann's comments on the tone of the story, I'm going to make a potentially way off guess by saying
Joel gets killed by the Fireflies at the start of the game, and Ellie goes on a rampage. The reason why Joel isn't fully seen in the trailer is because he's a figment of her imagination. I'm really only basing this on Joel being fully calm about walking through a house full of people Ellie presumably slaughtered.
I've seen that idea floated around a lot and I hope to God they don't use it because it's so overplayed and predictable.
Very true. Just a wild guess. Don't really want to see it happen.
I think the plot is
Ellie's daughter is taken or killed and this is a story of getting her back or revenge. Seeing that in Uncharted 4 there is a poster of Ellie pregnant with the title American Daughters. Feels similar to the first games prequel comic American Dreams.
Seeing that this game only takes place 5 years after the original game my theory could be incorrect.
Yeah, I'm with Haloid, they shouldn't have made a sequel with Ellie and Joel. They had a great story, and any future game with them may ruin what was special about the first one's story. I know that typically a sequel can't ruin the original, but if I play a sequel that changes the characters for the worse to me, it would be hard to play the original without thinking of that. Yet, I loved the game so much that it would kill me to NOT give a sequel a try.
Another game in the same world- fine. I really wish they kept Ellie and Joel out of it though.
This is one of the greatest games of all time. I loved the story. I hope 2 can be as good or even better.
I just got the remastered version of this Friday (got it online as part of GameStop's PS4 Slim Black Friday deal), and while I've never played it personally, I did watch Markiplier's play-through of it last year, and I really can't wait both to play it for myself, and for this appropriately timed sequel!
I love Ellie, so this is awesome. I'm wondering how much food is left in the world at this point, she will have to hunt more, which is also awesome.
Loved watching the first game on YouTube. It's like a mini series.
I'm hoping for a post apocalyptic survival game. Hunting. Scavenging. Farming. Canibalism. Pillaging. Along with killing zombies.
Is it sad that, while i still enjoy this, i am more excited for the Wipeout HD Collection being shown?
I'm thinking when the 2nd game comes out i might get it. I bought the first for PS3 but wasn't happy with that version. I still need to play it to see what happens at the end but hoping they give a code if you buy 2nd game to DL it on ps4. Now that would be a great idea i think for gamers like myself that need to finish the first game.
