    Something’s Gotta Give:

The Joker, Kay Adams, Charlotte Mearing, and the legend Keanu in one movie? Sign me the fuck up.

Great mix of comedy that does not dumb down and drama that does not go over the top.

    8/10

    The Matrix Resurrections- 1/10

I wasted two and a half hours of my life that I'll never get back. Had a feeling it would be bad but good lord. Wanted to just turn it off a bunch of times but slogged through it.

    No Time To Die- 6/10-

Pretty entertaining for the most part but didn't expect that ending. The other 007 shouldn't have even been in the movie but whatever. Gonna be interesting to see how they completely fuck up the franchise going forward.

Would kind of negate the point of the story if she hadn't been. Bond had to find a purpose beyond his job because at the end of the day, just like any 00, he is replaceable and his number will be reassigned. I don't know if they honestly believed the new 007 in No Time to Die was going to be popular with audiences and they ever actually considered moving forward with her in future movies, but I doubt it. That level of delusion doesn't seem likely. In any case, she clearly won't be coming back and they'll reboot for the next movie with a new Bond actor. Whenever that ends up being. I kind of hope they take a break for a while.

    Pixar double feature:

    Turning Red - 5/10

I think the target market was teenage Asian girls who are anime fans. Being none of those things, the movie didn't really land for me.

    Soul - 11/10

Outstanding film. Visually, the best I've ever seen from Pixar. Story-wise, exactly what I've come to expect from them.

free guy: 8/10 this was more fun than expected. a good movie with very fun cameos.

The Batman: 8/10 this was long… and maybe could have skipped parts of the last action sequence. but it was good! Bats, Gordon, catwoman and penguin were all great. It told its story at its pace and not rushed. who ever decided the batmobile scene should be in the trailer should fired. Great as it was it sucked to know the outcome from the start of the chase.

A highly accurate recreation of the heroes on that fateful plane. God bless every single one of them.

    Nightmare Alley 7.5 / 10

Del Toro brings his take in this remake and in the end I find it to be just okay.

    The Founder, 7.5/10

I knew essentially none of the details of the history of McDonald's prior to watching it. Michael Keaton was great in it. And, it seems the majority of the movie is pretty factual. I'm sure there were plenty of little things thrown in there just for drama, but the main plot points are pretty much presented according to how they actually happened. It's a pretty interesting story, IMO. And, it makes me dislike McDonald's a little more after watching it, lol...

Some friends convinced me to watch the Berserk Golden Age Arc trilogy, with almost no prior knowledge, and I really don't know how to feel about them. Janky CGI aside, at some points they have some really beautiful visuals. The characters are incredibly interesting and compelling. But it ends in miserable tragedy, and that stings. My overwhelming feeling at the end, was that I will never be happy again. I know there is more to the story, told in the manga, but with the tragic passing of Miura, it now exists forever incomplete, forever unresolved. This is something outside of the work itself, but I can't help but think "what's the point" in continuing to follow this story. People tell me that Berserk is about finding hope in the face of overwhelming darkness, but this trilogy of films has left me without that.

Okay, I know a lot of film snobs slam this movie for whatever reasons they fabricate, but man, I truly enjoyed watching it finally. Sometimes you need to watch a movie without expectations to enjoy it, which I did.
The Easter eggs were fantastic, the music was perfect (except for the use of the lullaby a bit too much), the story was good and the plot worked.
The only issues I had were that the swearing was a bit too much, Jill needed her beret and not enough monsters. On that last part, I love that they used the original designs for the Licker and

Turning Red wasn't terrible. I laughed in multiple places but I will agree that there's a target audience and it's not quite for everyone. Well, let me rephrase that... It's accessible to everyone but they won't all connect with it.

The humor, at times, was a little surprising and more than I expected out of a Pixar film. I could understand why people might be bothered by it.

I red some article proclaiming it as a love-letter to boyband culture. Now, I don't take every internet article these days as gospel truth, but if that's actually the case I'll have zero desire to ever watch it. I never "got" boyband culture. There was a time, as a kid, that it angered me. As an adult it's just one of those "I don't get it" things that I shrug over and walk away from.

The Boy Band thing is just a backdrop for the rest of the movie.

If anything, it was a love letter to those kids in that specific time/era, but it also mocked them to a point because the director or the writers were in that era. It was more a case of taking the piss at the whole thing. A loving roast, so to speak.

If one's open-minded, it'll make 'em laugh at the absurdity.

I don't really recall any humor that people would be bothered by. Well, I guess possibly the jokes about a certain aspect of a female's maturation.

I wouldn't call it a "love letter," but a boy band (and their fandom) was a pretty significant plot element, and was one of several aspects of the movie that didn't resonate with me, since I'm not a teenage girl.

    Morbius:
Morbius was like Diet-Venom. Now keep in mind I did enjoy the 2 Venom films despite their stupid parts, but Morbius did not have that same charm.

As far as the character, I barely know his comic origins. Most of what I know about him comes from his appearance in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon in which he is a scientist turned vampire sucking blood/plasma using his hands. I have no knowledge of his comic origin or his rogue gallery, so, I came into it with no expectations and whatever change they've made went over my head.

The acting was fine. I enjoyed Matt Smith's performance the most (oh and you bet they'd make Doctor Who references with him). Jared Leto was fine in human form, but as a vampire he was more silly than scary.

The film ended up a little dull for me. But man, the editing was sloppy. Throughout the film you'd notice characters would monologue but it was edited in a way they didn't give enough space between sentences making it rushed and awkward to hear, scenes would cut like you think a scene was deleted (most noticeable during the prologue), action sequences were bad and placing them in the night didn't help. Also the film was confused on what exactly they wanted to make of Morbius. Is he a hero? an ant-hero? Anti-villain? Nothing stuck out to give the character a clear identity.

The ending also might leave some of you unsatisfied, and I don't mean the mid-credits scenes.
The film didn't have an ending. Once Morbius kills Milo the film ends on that note without a conclusive proper ending leaving many threads loose with events and characters without addressing them.

Adrian Toomes just teleports randomly inside an empty cell during the portal sequence from No Way Home and then got transferred by the police.
Toomes somehow got his Vulture tech and somehow knew about Morbius and somehow knew how to contact him to meet up in the middle of the desert to form a team against Spider-Man.

Necronomicon: Book of the Dead (1993)
This has been on my list to watch for good while. I am a massive fan of body horror films and great creature effects so I was excited for this. It is an anthology film with HP Lovecraft inspired themes composed of 3 main stories and one wrap around. Jeffery Combs stars in the wrap around so you know you are in for a treat. In the end I really enjoyed it! Of the 3 stories I only didn't like the second one, which I found to be rather uninteresting until the body horror finally commenced. All the effects from each story were beautiful to see and of course haunting as they should be. The third story was my favorite with the most existential horror and most compelling plot. If you enjoy things like From Beyond and Re-Animator you may just like this one a lot. Of course it is not a perfect movie, with the second story not being interesting enough and nothing overly special outside of the effects (mmm those effects!) this wont blow you away as a package but it is short enough and gross enough to be a solid entertaining time. 8/10
