Pretty good. Lots of nice callbacks but lots of retreads too. Was kinda unneeded, but still enjoyable.

The Princess and the Frog - 6.75/10

First watched this probably 10 years ago, and thought it was just ok. Watched it again recently to see if my opinion changed....nope.
I like the designs, and most of the characters are fine. Songs are ok, not very memorable.

However, there’s 3 main problems I have with it:
    - the story moves WAY too fast. There’s never any time to reflect on anything, it’s just constantly moving from one plot point to the next.
    - this is related to the first problem, but the main characters’ relationship just seems to come out of nowhere. There are almost no real bonding moments, they just suddenly love each other.
    - this is not a knock on the awesome Keith David, but the villains are pretty weak. You have the servant guy who wants to gain more power, but he’s treated as an afterthought, put into the story out of necessity and nothing else. And Dr Facilier is just some voodoo guy who happens to know some spirits and wants to...take over New Orleans?? Almost no backstory and weak ambition.

It seems like a lot of people love this movie, I just think it’s pretty weak.

    You MONSTER.
    Hercules is awesome.

Coming 2 America 6/10 - Worth the watch for the nostalgia and the cameos, but that's about all. It has its chuckle moments, but it's not laugh out loud funny. Tries too hard to be funny and just ends up being lame and over the top in spots. Still worth the watch, but not something you'd watch twice.

Yeah, I didn't like how the Greek mythology was changed, thats why i gave it that score but after watching it again, I boost the score because the some of the songs are catchy like the muses singing while we see the 12 labors of Hercules and the voice performance of the late Rip Torn, Danny Devito and James Woods were great. "Whoa is my hair out?"

The video game almost became my first PlayStation 1 game.

And I'll admit the ending left me teary eyed. Especially for Phil because he got what he dreamed for.

    Alita: Battle Angel - 9/10

I know, the acting is occasionally overwrought, its condensed and a lot is lost and it ends about one time too many, but I love this film to death. I really wish I was gonna get a second one.

Coming 2 America 2/10- This was a struggle to get through. I had a feeling I wouldn't enjoy it after seeing the trailers but damn it was boring as hell and I didn't have a single laugh, not one. Shitty movie with cameo overload. The original is one of my all time favorites and this is an insult to that masterpiece. Horrible.

    National Treasure - 6.5/10

Saw this for the first time last week, and I was kind of underwhelmed. Honestly kind of bored. There were some fantastic ideas in here. I liked the TLK-style secret history thing. The heist aspect was also a lot of fun. I liked the setting of the finale. But I felt like the movie was really dragged down by a bland cast. I'm frankly not too familiar with Nicolas Cage's work, but I didn't think he was a very charismatic lead. And I found the sidekick guy sort of annoying. I'm getting tired of the whole "guy who points out how ridiculous everything is" trope. Maybe it was fresher back in 2004, but at this point we've had 10 years of Marvel movies doing that. Like...just write a less silly story if you think the audience can't handle it.

I also found the overall presentation lacking...it needed more interesting shots and cinematography. They wanted this to be Indiana Jones, but it just didn't have the energy of Indiana Jones. It ended up reminding me a lot of Night at the Museum. Interesting ideas, but it needed stronger execution. Proof that a solid story and plot alone can't always carry a movie. I see potential here, but it didn't quite come together for me.

    Field of Dreams - 8/10

Saw this film a few years back, and I honestly didn't remember much about it. Decided to watch it again, and I really liked it. Almost the opposite of what I said about National Treasure. This movie has a fine story that's really elevated by good performances and cinematography. This movie has a strong atmosphere to it, it has a lot of striking shots and visuals. I'm not even much of a sports guy...I honestly don't watch or follow sports at all. But this movie almost treats baseball like a mythology, and finds a way to make me invested in the subject matter. I like how the plot sort of meanders and goes in unforeseen directions. On paper it would probably sound kind of sloppy, but it works within the tone of the film. I look forward to seeing this movie again.

    X-Men Origins: Wolverine - 1/10

Holy shit, this was worse than I remembered.

The Way of the Gun - 8/10

Just as good as I remembered. Phillippe's best role ever.

    Rain Man - 7/10

Cruise is way more of an asshole in this than I remembered. Didn't realize this won Best Picture. It was good but not "Best Picture" good. The 80's were a weird time.

I recommend that you do. The argument scene is one of the funniest moments in movie history—in my opinion.

I just wanted to turn it off 4 or 5 times because of sheer boredom. It was a crawl to the finish. They spent more time on the useless cameo list than on the actual story and script it seems.

Captain Marvel - 8.5/10: This was a rewatch for me. I think this is the second or third time I've seen this since theaters and it's bittersweet. I like the movie, I like the character, you can tell it was fun to work on, but Brie Larson just alienated so many people by running her mouth at the wrong time. I'm all for her giving her opinion, we do each and every day, but the timing needs to be right and she's like a bull in a china shop. You might agree with her in general, just not at the moment, and she hasn't figured that out. That, plus the incredibly uncomfortable interviews spoke volumes about how she is and how the cast interacted with her. Cheadle and Hemsworth might've been "in character" during their interviews (possibly) but Renner was not. His body language was checked and rechecked and he clearly couldn't stand to be near her. Knowing that, it ruins some of the fun for me. It's still a good movie, probably even better than I remembered, but hampered slightly by her. She's a female Edward Norton, basically, and we all see how he and the MCU turned out. Maybe they can use the multiverse as an excuse to recast her.

Avengers: Endgame - 8.5/10: Much like CM, I believe this is the second or third time I've seen this since theaters and it's better than I remembered. I think I softened on it because I knew what was coming and it wasn't as relentless as the first viewing, which was just white knuckle and throwing you back and forth. This time, I could pause when I needed to (got to get my fluid intake up, no more kidney stones for me!) and actually listen and pay attention the entire time. It's great watching with an audience, especially Cap's big scene in the final battle, but in other ways it detracts from the experience. This is one of those movies you need to absorb because there's so much going on. So, so much, going on. They didn't have time to address what happened to all of the people who returned from the Blip, which is understandable at 3+ hours, but there should've been a discussion or something, even briefly. All in all, though, excellent experience.

This kind of treatment is what Transformers needs in terms of movies. Competent writing, directing, producing, and even starring. We should be watching those stand up and cheer moments for Optimus and Rodimus and the gang. Could you imagine a Hot Rod/Rodimus scene akin to Cap's and the hammer, on the big screen, with people cheering? My gosh. We're long overdue.

I get that...but that is what I was expecting to see going into it. I thought it was fun to see who all they got to come back and how they have aged.
