Just caught On Stranger Tides yesterday on tv. Man, reminded me that they could make 10 more movies about the adventures of Jack Sparrow and I would watch it. He and this whole universe is so enjoyable.
Also caught the first quarter of The Mummy. They don't make good adventure movies like tha t anymore. Glad I got the whole trilogy on steelbox BR in Wien for just 15€.

    Casino Royale - 9/10

A few minor, minor niggles but Craig's first outing was total gangbusters and made his many detractors - myself included - shut our gob and enjoy a good Bond movie. Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" is a belter of a theme and its title sequence ranks up with the series best.

Many years since I watched the whole thing, and am reminded why I still think its the best comic book movie of all time.

Just got done watching the Hunger Games series with my 13-year old daughter. I’ve seen them before, but they’re still pretty good for a dystopian story. It was my daughter’s first time watching them. I think she’s hooked. She is very into the Katniss/Peeta thing. Still in all, I give them an 8/10.

    Rambo: Last Blood

Rambo 4 was the perfect ending for Rambo's story. I'd be fine if they ended it there. Is this a better ending? No. Is it a bad movie? No. The movie doesn't pull its punches. It shows how horrible the sex trafficking is (and some say it didn't even reach how really awful it is) and can get very emotional even when the story is not the best. And even as an old man, Rambo is still a monster to be feared with the gore it shows.

Mission Impossible Fallout you know what you're going to get with these, pretty impressive that old Tom has been making these since 1996! Still it was exciting, silly and instantly forgettable. 4/5

Thought the writing was really poor and characters had no motivations for what they were doing--- it was all just forced to serve a plot point. Cool concept, really poor execution and really poor dialogue.

As a museum lover I couldn't help but love it. It embraces the paranoia you get when you see real-life statues or stuffed animals and expect them to jump to life right in front of you.

Of course, Vincent Price is still amazing (has he ever made bad movies?) and the movie had a surprising amount of humor you almost forget you're watching a horror movie. Mostly dark humor in the house, but still gave me a laugh.

First time seeing any of the Gillman movies, and this one was... okay for what it gave. Maybe I expected more, but didn't see what made it so special other than the creature itself. Beautifully shot, good music, but the plot was lackluster.

    The Wolf's Call
    9/10

Was browsing Netflix for something to watch and came across this French movie. I'm no military expert, but this movie appears to be very technical in terms of submarine life and real-life operations. This movie is beautifully shot and directed and does a great job of showcasing the implications of war. It captured all of the high emotions that don't get represented in your typical action blockbuster. There is not much action in terms of fight scenes, gun battles, explosions, etc... but it does a great job of creating drama and tension in the tight confined spaces of a submarine. I felt genuine anxiety watching the characters go through their deliberations and through their dialogue. I thought it was very well acted and everything seemed like it could be possible in real-life, down to the dialogue. It was also very interesting to see other countries' military operations outside of the US, which we are familiar with coming out of Hollywood. This is possibly one of the best if not the best submarine war movie I have ever seen.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

*pro tip: Netflix offers a dubbed version, but I prefer watching foreign language films in their original language to capture the essence of actor/actress performances. I'd recommend watching this movie in its original language (French)

    Revenge of the Creature:

I heard the sequels were bad, but I actually liked this more than the first one. In fact, this is what I was waiting to see in the first one but all it did was trying to catch the creature until the last moment they changed their mind and let it free/leaving it to die.

The characters are really likable and you get to sympathize with the creature who got subjected to endless experiments. The suit wasn't as good as the original one though. There were shots where the right eye was off and in others you can see the paint is missing from the suit and in one scene air bubbles were clearly shooting from the hole on the top of its head.

Heh, I can't tell what this rating even means. Given what a gun-humping douchebag piece of shit this guy has been outed as, I would normally think his name as a rating would equate to less than zero. But then I remember those 20 minutes from a decade ago when people thought he was 'badass' because of endless fake quote memes that highlighted all of his washed-up stupidity - the whole "he's soooo lame, now he's cool" thing kids like to do - so maybe this rating is trying to reflect being above ten...?

Figured. Might as well be Ted Nugent or Kid Rock / 10 then. :rolleyes2

Anyway, glad the movie is apparently good. No way in hell will it live up to the hype it's getting - ironically through the same big bad media that everyone claims to loathe... but is exactly what's getting them to it in the first place - but I'm sure it'll be watchable enough.

I've never put much stock in to the reviews that include meme numbers. Well, perfect scores, too for that matter. Along with zeroes. Even the best movies have flaws, and even the worst ones have positives. Those kind of numbers usually come from emotion of seeing it fresh.

With that said, I too am glad people seem to be enjoying it. I doubt it's the best thing ever, but at least it seems to be an enjoyable experience.

Phoenix was truly incredible, but that’s it. The movie did absolutely nothing otherwise.

Yeah, this wasn't good. Not only they rehashed the previous two movies in one, but they also changed the creature in this stupid looking costume and turned it to a Frankenstein's monster clone.
