    Taxi Driver - 10/10

This is one of DeNiro's best performances, and I see why it's regarded as one of the best films. His character is so interesting, and the plot unfolds in a way I didn't expect. I'm really glad I saw this one!

I finally got to see Baby Driver, 10/10.

I would have seen it sooner if my ******ed local theatre didn't decide wait so long to release it, and not only that but release during my exam week.

And ******ed means slow. Were they slow?

    Atomic Blonde - 6.5/10

The cast was solid, and I really enjoyed the 80's soundtrack and style the director went with. There was one fantastic single shot fight scene that was the highlight of the movie. As far as plot goes, I guess I'm just not a fan of spy movies anymore. They all have to have a twist or multiple twists at the end, so I was expecting one and was completely underwhelmed and uninterested when it played itself out.

No way out; would of been a solid 8/10, but the "twist" ending kinda deflated the entire film for me.

    Paris can wait 9/10

Obviously written from the american point of view, but still very charming movie - and it ends not too fromage-ish fortunately.

    Alien 3
So I watched Seven before watching this. And no, this is not the Assembly Cut. This is the pure theatrical version. I can see difference in the direction between this and Seven. Seven has suspense to keep you engaged, this movie tries and doesn't cut it. I understand Fincher disowned this movie so it explains why the direction feels hollow.

There are good performances, some fine set designs and good practical effects. They did incorporate CGI and it looks dated as hell. The movie had an idea with the prison setting and the religious group that resides with it but never explores these well. It just becomes a movie where Ripley tries to convince the people there is a Xenomorph out there but the people just don't believe it until they finally see it. The way in which people die is also kind of weak. Charles Dance's character just so happens to die abruptly nothing is felt. And that goes to the characters who survived Aliens, they all go out like nothing.

So yeah.... Obviously inferior to the first two but I will say it's not as out of its mind as Alien: Resurrection.

Fincher disowned Alien 3 due to the way Fox treated him when he filmed the movie. They kept changing the script on him each morning.

One of the bonus features on the BD has a scene on set where Fincher grabs a mic and says something like, "I can not believe a company like Fox has stayed in business for so long when they are run by a bunch of idiots!"

Detroit - A tad longer than necessary, but it tells a story that needs to be told, especially with what has transpired over the last several years. This movie features a full range of top notch actors who really give it their own in this intense situation that is full of suspense. In some cases, you would think this was a horror movie as it pulls off tension that would be the vast majority of modern horror movies to shame. The dude that plays the main cop does his job at playing a racist with such brilliance that it makes you want to punch him in the face if you were to ever see him on the street. Both Anthony Mackie and John Boyega are great in the roles they have been given, but it is Algee Smith who single handily steals the show with a promising singer who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, changing his life forever. The only downside is that I'm not sure how much replay value the movie has, so I'm going to have to give it an 8/10.

The Presense 5/10. A German horror film where they used the same sound effects from the 1963 The Haunting.

First Blood absolutely is a fantastic movie. Some people think it's just alright and there's nothing special but I personally think this is such a great film with a thorough examination on PTSD and the response people might of had against returning Vietnam soldiers.

I think it's an important film. After Vietnam Veterans came home they were not treated with the respect they deserved, and this movie gave them a hero they could relate to and faced the same problems they were facing. It also tackles PTSD in a way that I think is more accessible than something like The Deer Hunter even though that's a great movie too.
