I've been hearing that it's very middle of the road: not gonna rock your socks off like Civil War but certainly a better outing that Dawn of Justice.

Swap those two comparisons around as required :p

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - 9/10

The film that launched Guy Richie's career, as well as that of Jason Statham (ironically playing his least capable character) about four friends who find themselves in it up to their necks after being cheated out of half a million pounds at poker by a local crime kingpin and porn store owner.

The film has about 20 characters all up so there's little in terms of intimate detail but each actor manages to bounce of their respective foils very well and the dialogue has this delightful snap, crackle and pop about it.

This was the first one in the series I had ever seen & it made a lasting impression. I agree with your assessment- comes in right behind part 3. This is a fun movie, but it's also where the brand officially became mainstream. Freddy's humor was good here, but they were really pushing it. They reigned him in just enough to keep him from becoming a total clown. And yeah- I love that seeing his own reflection was enough to scare the hat off his head.

Little observation! Freddy is never wearing his hat when he gets defeated in these movies! Not once! Even New Nightmare keeps with the tradition. And when Freddy fought Jason, I knew exactly who was about to win, when his hat got knocked off. The hat is to Freddy what Samson's hair is to Samson!

Love Lock Stock......its a cracking English crime movie. Soaps dialogue is brilliant. Snatch & Rock N Rolla are also faves of mine from Ritchie.

That tradition holds true for all the movies except the remake though I try my best to forget that one.

    Yeah! It really is.

Yeah, but on the other hand, the remake keeps with getting everything wrong. Hat stays on? Just one more thing they messed up. Albeit a tiny, seemingly insignificant thing, but still.

    X-Men Apocalypse - 8.5/10

First half felt a bit disjointed, but I loved everything afterwards.

Scarface - This was my first time watching the original 1932 movie and it was all right. I didn't realize it was made before they started adding a score to movies, which I think could have made it so much better. The camera work was great and the acting was pretty good. It is a shame we didn't get more of Karloff on screen, but oh well. I am really suprised to see how much of this movie was actually carried into the 80s remake. I'm going to give it a 7/10.

    X-Men: Apocalypse - 5/10

So sad. Singer and X-Men is supposed to be pure gold but this was really disappointing. First half of the film was actually quite good and a nice continuation of Singer's universe. But after the Quicksilver scene the movie went to sh#t for the second half. Apocalypse just didn't do it for me as a villain and that final battle was just a lot of visual noise that underwhelmed me. It was some of the most boring big blockbuster action I've ever seen.

    Some other thoughts
    - Gimme a Psylocke spinoff. Aaron Rodgers is a lucky man on and off the field.
    - J Law looked bored. It's embarrassing the amount of time she's out of her blue form
    - Why was MacTaggert in this?
    - You could substitute Apocalypse with Malekith and it wouldn't make a difference to me
-I hope the Russos watch this to see how not to do Infinity war.

    X-Men: Apocalypse 8/10

I liked it. I do agree that the last half felt like a let down. I agree with Chris James on most of his points. Mactaggert did feel Un-necessary; even Mystique felt like she could had been done away with.

Glad to hear. Can't wait to see this one. Now, I just have to drag the Mrs to go and see it. (She's been wanting to, but hasn't given me a date as to when we can go.)

    X-Men: Apocalypse;

this movie places all the cool x-men in the background, and replaces it with a bunch of boring ones. I know cyclops is a much better character in the comics. and i loved him in the 90's cartoon. but wow, has he become boring in everything else.

then, they put some characters i actually like in it, like
    jubilee,
who this is the 4th time she's been in one of these films, and still has not been in it anything more than random "teenager." she was one of my favorites from the 90's cartoon. and yet, instead the most interesting character we get to follow, is Magneto. this movie knows that they are boring, because everytime they get in to trouble, they need somebody else to cameo, and save them. While i am glad they didn't just go with another wolverine centered plot, they really need to find more interesting characters to center around.

Olivia Munn needs to stop being put in movies. she still can not act.
it disappointed me when it was NOT her being "killed by Apocalypse"
and i should not be feeling that way about characters.

the movie is not a bad film. it's just a rather uninteresting film. and this is a movie that said
the third is always the weakest.
well thanks, for not trying to make this anything more than that, Singer? ps.
    Return of the jedi,
is a MUCH better film than this.

this film, to me it just exists. it is nothing i will ever watch again. and it is nothing you are missing if you skip this one either.

    also,
because of this movie, i now have the theory that since there have been four jubilees, that professor x, is having them murdered, then replaced with another asian female, just to keep up his quota of 1 token asian female in his school for tax purposes. And i know it is a "rebooted" storyline. but there are still 4 jubilees in this movie series, *i know one was just in the edited scenes, but still.*and they are all different actresses, at different ages. and since this jubilee is from the 80s, as at least a teenager, and then there is one in the 2000 movie, that is also just a slightly older teen. and then i think there was one in x-men 2 as a breathe cameo. who was way younger. and then there was another one in x-3. although, i think shadowcat may have the same problem.

i think the point is, there is something screwy going on at the x-men house.
also, i forgot that they had a holideck, leaving me to now believe that captain picard and professor x are the same character.

7 out of 10. this movie isn't bad, it isn't great. it's better than Crazy Steve, vs Beardless Idiot. but not by much.

saddest part is, because of this movie, The Nice Guys being sandwiched between this and the last marvel movie, it's just going to be ignored, and flop. and i really wanted to see a sequel to that. something that was a mostly original concept. with original characters. not based on comic books, or a reboot, or a remake or whatever.

I recommend the nice guys over this movie.

The Omega Man (Charlton Heston's "I Am Legend")

Pretty hokey at times, but entertaining in that it felt like a Fallout game movie, set in the '70s. Heston even wears a blue jumpsuit that looks a lot like the vault suits, at one point. I never read the book, so I don't know if this adaptation is truer to the source than Will's movie, but the sapient antagonist plague victims (The Family) made things interesting. 7/10.

X-Men Apocanotlypse - Man, what a terrible night for a bad movie. :-( For a movie that was titled after the character Apocaylpse I was expecting to see said character. Instead, we got some lackluster Ivan Ooze-looking wannabe that never even felt like Apocalypse once in the entire movie. He was weak and pathetic. Now if you were a fan of Not-Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, you should have no proble liking Not-Apocalypse. Hell, he is never even called that once. The rest of the movie itself was mediocre as well. Sansa Stark was terrible because I never saw Jean, I saw a little spoiled brat I wanted to smack some sense into. Also, I see why they picked someone like Olivia Munn for Psylocke as they didn't need anyone to act just to groan. Then we have Mystique, who gets very frustrating. Her and a group of mutants are trapped in a room that nullifies their powers EXCEPT hers. She was still able to transform back into Jennifer Lawrence despite this. WTF? Also, there was no character development at all for Archangel and Storm, making them still completely pointless to the movie universe(s). The best things include Magneto and a really awesome sequence with Quick-Silver. As a whole, this movie was mess and was just slightly better than X3. Unless you need to see this in theaters, rent it. It gets a 6/10.

    King Kong (2005)- 7.5/10

Way too f'n long but still a lot of fun and has a great classic Hollywood vibe to it.
