I have been a furious hater of Bay and his Transformers work.... But this new Barricade is exactly would I expected to Transformers to look like live-action. So I'd get him if I saw him.
Seriously, I think I'll buy 3. One to play with, one to display and one to keep in-box. (^.^') When I'm done playing with the first one, it can be displayed in alt-mode along side the second one. This MPM line is getting me so fired up. Everyone probably already knows this, but I'm a guy who loves accuracy and complex designs. I was simply ecstatic with the leaps in engineering from the Movie 1 Leader to the ROTF Leader and I was really looking forward to see how it would have been further improved for DOTM. It was such a let-down when they took a big step backwards with Butterfly Prime... Finally, this is the Prime I've been waiting for. Dreams do come true. Please don't screw it up.
Putting aside whether it's real or not, here is what I can make out: - Better proportions (Bigger feet/shorter forearms) - Slimmer profile (No voice box/Mech-alive) - Greatly reduced backpack (To movie-accurate size, at least) - No more ROTF Leader kibble (Toolbox on legs) This is more than enough to make me super-hyped. Now, the only problem is if it has a movie-accurate transformation scheme. I don't doubt that the chest panels form the front windows, but do the legs form the sleeper and the arms form the front? Hm...
Barricade was one of my first 07 movie figures and one of my first figures since I got back into the franchise back in those days (preview movie Starscream was the first, and I got Bonecrusher alongside Barricade on release day). I\'ve always loved the concept and design and there\'s just something special about him to me. Getting a Masterpiece version, especially after missing the HA, would be amazing.
I frankly doubt that Hasbro would make a mpm prime without the chest panel transformations considering how much many people complained about the fake chest on the dotm one. And another thing I've noticed is that there are no flip out blades in the arms, which could signify a much cleaner transformation. But then again, they'll probably start milking this mold like they did the rotf one
Don't blame the designers for the horrible movies of Bay I don't blame if the chest were fake in the dotm voyager, i blame it because the proportions are atrocious.
to be honest wouldn't mind seeing a 68 bee or 76 bee as a mpm but also a Jazz, Sideswipe, Sideways, Crosshairs and so on and on Even the dotm Twins as a MPM would rock my boat ( even Skids in his ROTF coloring)
Like Seth said, it's probably a collab, so its not just Takara, but if I've heard correctly, Takara is mostly the one that does the designing of the figures
