Too true. Most modern blockbusters lack character and plot development and value flash and cheap thrills over substance. I always settle on the one that at least will look good when everything else fails. I remember watchin Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and 30 min in I was able to deduce the storyline and the rest of the viewing was spent checking off the plot point boxes or willing characters to get on with the story, because we already know that it's going to happen anyway... it was basically Avatar, but with apes. Originality is dead. Hollywood should return to medium-sized blockbusters.

 

I think ppl expect way too much out of movies. Yes some can be done right and others not so much. Yes the plots in tfs movies are wonky but I go for the visuals and I like the designs.

There will never be pleasing all fans. Some will hate and some will enjoy.

I just don't think with budget and time frame they can make it work so much.

 

So with the Excavator Autobot, does he have a reused design or a new design?

Also hoping he appears in TF6, since it'd be fun to have an Autobot whose alt-mode isn't road-legal appear as a semi-main Autobot

 

Ick, that shit with Starscream's head is exactly (one small example of) what I hate about these movies. Why are they so gross, violent and weird toward the robot characters?

 

Right, so it's confirmed that Megatron is also working for Quintessa and is basically a fail-safe in case Prime doesn't deliver. Interesting plot point, but apparently rather underdeveloped.

This is what I was afraid of. I will find out on Friday if it is better than AOE and ROTF or not.

Wow.

So this is the first movie with a new team of writers, no Ehren Kruger, the movie that will wipe the slate clean for future Transformers movies to start from, supposedly Bay's last hurrah with the franchise...and it STILL suffers from many of the problems that plagued the last four films. I'd say this movie is terrible, but then again, I've been saying the same thing since these movies began ten years ago. Hell, this is just depressing at this point.

If Hasbro ever, ever needed to do a hard reboot for the films, that time is now. Cut their ties with Paramount, get a different movie studio, different cast, different crew, the whole nine yards. If that can't work, then just make the new movie series animated. I kinda think it may work out better that way.

 

Was this ever its purpose?

Not that I don't want a reboot badly, but I'm pretty sure this is setting up for more movies going forward.

I am shocked because I was so sure Prime would be killed off and BumbleBee would be next in line. (As much as I would have hated that) But wtf it sounds like it ends on the ‘everything is good now’ end. What’s terrible is Evil Prime was basically the theme of every trailer and what this film was advertised with so much and it’s not even that long of a thing? Instead its more ‘ooh human history and importance’ crap.

My main fear seems to be true, Megatron and the Decepticons are nothing more than an annoyance rather than a huge threat in the film…bummer. Plus lack luster Megatron and Optimus rematch!?

BUT I’m obviously here to ask about my man Barricade…XD Does he even speak? And if so is it the original voice?

I was kind of hoping BumbleBee and Barricade would get another fight(Or a proper one not Barricade gets shot once by BumbleBee) Everyone sais they are rivals but I’ve never seen it because they fight once (and besides the Camaro vs Mustang thing) It’s like saying Optimus and Bonecrusher were rivals. However I was so hoping that with Hot Rod and Bee being labeled ‘brother in arms’ Barricade would just pop up and be ‘The fuk Bee I’m your actual Brother who is this!?’ and totally shock the audience (Making the rivalry sibling rivalry) but oh well  

Starscream’s head makes me somewhat hopeful that he will be brought back at some point in the films or at least I’m glad the film makers haven’t completely forgotten about him…

Still seeing it but…it’s time for someone else to take over doing these films please.

They were a G1 subgroup. Doublecross, Repgunus, Groutsque,

They are just as useful as mounts for the Autobot charge scene as the dinobots were. Hell, Doublecross was even a two-headed dragon to begin with.

Well I've vanished thus far....I've read all the non spoilers lol! And there's only one thing on my mind.... and I'm not returning to see the replies, until I've seen it on Monday.....galvatron wtf happens bro??!

 

I mean, there were definitely SOME improvements over previous movies. Especially in regards to the Decepticons.

They had their little intro scenes and all were given (admittedly shallow) personalities: Mohawk was a Skids/Midflap-esque jive turkey, Nitro Zeus was a kind of "gangsta" personality (he wore chains around his neck and walked with a swagger)... it's just it was all wasted when they all died quickly and qith little fanfare. Dreadbot, for example, could have been memorable for his ridiculous bank heist but instead he's bitten in two by Grimlock in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene. Even Berserker, who was in a sort of metal straight-jacket and TRF refused to release got a little more personality than we're normally accustomed to and he was only in one scene!

It's my hope that they keep improving and by next movie we get a proper cast of Decepticons that can survive more than one movie.
