    okay, they've given up, the design team that is. it used to be there was some faux realworld physics involved in the transformations, you could see how things basically transformed. i noticed it creeping into Age of Extinction, but now the transformation is in the realm of imaginationland.

    That one image of him from behind is one of the original peices of concept art from 2011 released after AOE, just in new colors. His parts are even different. I do like the new colors though.

    When I first saw this I thought it was just a fan-edit based on the concept art of Drift drifting into battle and wielding two swords.

    Kinda disappointed. I was hoping with how Hot Rod looks, it meant that the others were going to have more vehicle kibble on them but Drift essentially looks the same but with different colors and with Mercedes kibble on him. He looks cool, though.

    There really isn't anything about the bot besides the Mercedes badge and the name to indicate this is even a Transformer and not just another over-detailed generic bot.
    The first movie really had the designs right. You could tell they were bots that turned into cars. That was the magic of it.
    The magic has left the building.

    The shot of his back makes it pretty clear he'll have some sort of 'copter mode. And he's red now.
