I tried tea tree oil, and it works! I might just use Reprolabel symbols, though.

    ROTF, yes.

Bought it for 45 USD. Should be available in taobao, but I can't find a link at the moment. Maybe Paul Grant/Sirtoys can source some units.

The Ultimate Optimus mechtech gun on mine is worthless, so I threw it away. No trailer, unfortunately.

Sir Toys already got back to me. They have it for $74 plus $39 shipping. Is the build quality good enough for that kind of money?

yipe... that's a lot... unfortunately, that's what i saw it going for in taiwan as well :(  (minus the shipping)

if i could snag it for 45 shipped, i'd bite, but i personally wouldn't pay 100 bones for it.

next time i go to beijing i'ma try to buy a truckload of oversized tfs, lol.

I can only say that based on video reviews, at least, it's an almost-perfect replica of the original. And it's way better than Oversized Megs and Optimus, the plastic feels heavier/thicker, not brittle and hollow.

Now whether it's worth 100+ is up to you. But to be honest, if this were an original 3rd party product, it's easily worth that.

Weird. Good to know the plastic quality is on par with the real deal. Shame about the deco though. If this was the MP-M01 Raptor camo scheme, I'd get this in a heartbeat.

No man, these are the regular Leader class GDO figures. They both came in this black box and also red packaging.

I'll buy that too if they make it!

    KO Review Videos?

A few days back someone (I've lost track of when and whom, sorry!) mentioned that there was a gap in reviews of the kinds of products that are discussed in this thread.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like I might be the right man for the job, I have decent production skills, and I buy a lot of this stuff (more than "real" 3P or official stuff), and I'm pretty passionate about it....so what the hell :)

This is what I'm thinking content/format wise:

    • Each episode will have an over arching theme
      • Police vehicles, animal types, super hero riffs, combiners, whatever
    • Each theme will be made up of 3 segments
      • A straight KO of a TF (or other as appropriate) product
      • A "middle ground" toy which borrows engineering, or otherwise takes obvious inspiration, from a "real" toy, but makes enough changes that it feels semi-original
      • A mass-market "original" product that is clearly an original effort, but still has that "I wanna be a TF" vibe that we all recognize
    • Each segment will touch on a few key features
      • Over all design, transformation, and build quality
      • "Source Material", inspiration, or other connection to "real" toys
      • Final assessment/thoughts on how/where/why this might fit into your collection.
Anything I'm not thinking of that folks might like to see? Any particular toys you'd like to see featured? (I'm going to stay away from the High Quality MP and G1 KO stuff, as those get plenty of coverage already).

    Looking forward to your thoughts.

Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised that they bootlegged this original combiner. The original version is diecast; this one's all plastic. I think Paul may have already found this guy earlier.
