It's a cool figure with stylish proportions and the chrome/gold adds a touch of classic charm. They never made any other dinos in this size, which is too bad... the rex mode is quite solid and fun to play with.

The articulation and transformation are pretty good considering its origins as an upsized Legends-scale figure, but there are artifacts... simplified fists and balljoints, very flat back area in dino mode, etc.

I like the figure but had a hard time figuring out where he fits into my collection. He's not an especially tall voyager size, but very wide. From the pictures above, he works rather nicely with Siege figures as a not-huge Grimlock.

On the down side, the materials and build quality don't really match what we've come to expect from quality KO OSKO figures. The plastic is thin and feels slightly cheap in-hand... the QC is not bad at all and he looks great, but it has the feeling of a model kit you put together with screws, rather than a toy a child could handle... which is because it IS actually a copy of a model kit you put together yourself (the original legends figure).

Also, as you can see, his gun is actually a smoked dark grey plastic (same as the panel on his chest, and the hinge on his back. The sword actually appears to be two-tone plastic (or two pieces glued?), so that's cool.

I also am a fan of this guy for several reasons: I think he looks more menacing and G1 toy like in dino mode; wanted him to be bigger than Prime but not enormous; wanted to have a Sludge bigger than him; and wanted a set of CHUG dino modes in different sizes.

Have the GCreations Sludge but might replace depending on how Hasbro leader Sludge turns out.

I was going to grab him but after Ben's unfavorable review I have passed.

I'm starting to suspect that it was either fake or (more likely) picture depicted regular os ko Siege Hound while the tan-ish look was the effect of over exposition.

Thanks for all your replies. I like what I see and what I read so I think ill buy one. How much do you guys reckon is a fair price for new/sealed?

I think I shouldnt bother with scale so much, given than my Optimus * Megs are the OS from BPF and the rest are the regulars, but I wanted him to fit with the rest and from what I see he does. :D

I had bought mine new for $30 without shipping from robotoybase. RTB adds quite a bit on shipping, but I had it combined with other items.

2018, but they might still be remade again or some distributor or wholesaler might have some stashed in the back of their warehouse and will resurface when they clean it out.

Because some erroneously think this is a Sir Toys fan thread.

It's not a complaint. 52toys products are not KOs.

Maybe better to just have it in its own thread.

Was going to update my post with the thread link. Yes, they've been able to make great transforming figures from cubes. I like their upcoming one - Firmhand.

I have no regrets in buying it ages ago and adding to the pile of Grimlocks around these parts. But he's smaller than the new SS movie Grimlock, so doesn't scale if you're going with the actual scale and not like head cannon or your personal preferences etc, which is also a valid choice. The robot head is very simplified and overall he nices nicer in dino mode, but is too small.

I should say the ROBOT mode of SS Grim scales nicely, but i still keep my MP Grim for the dino mode as that scales better, SS Grim is too short in dino mode, but fine in robot mode scale wise.

The zhu jiang or whatever they called it back then OS does have some nice bulk to it in both modes. It's a fairly decent but cheaply made ko. Worth the price if you don't overpay for it, and it can work in a classics / chug collection.
