They were common as dirt a couple of years back but I tried finding some recently and they're like golddust.

I bought mine from the second link long time ago, but now Prime is gone there. I didn't test first link/store, but I have suspicion that Panda Deparment, Ali Brothers, Ali-jiu-jiu and Iacces international trade co.ltd. are all run by the same people.

Anyone think LS-03F is worth it after getting the regular LS-03 version? I really like the paint on the F, but not sure it's worth another Benjamin...

I'm afraid you missed the boat. The KOs now sell for more than the legit ones did originally. Black and white KO sets are hitting $50+ per set, legits $100+. I have a set of blue and maroon left in my sales thread, I rarely see any PE kits up for sale anymore.

Ι got Deep cover for a decent price and I have to say I liked what they did with the Sideswipe mold...For that price I am hugely tempted to get one, the problem been naturally scale.

I already have the G2 Selects Megs and Netflix Nemesis facing their BPF counterparts already....do I want it to get anymore wonky?

    The questions.....

I think I was in a similar boat a week ago, when I chimed in; and am now reading responses that are quite comical. I mean, some feel they must defend the honor of knockoff/bootleg TF toys... With sentiment that comes off like, "How dare you use that term 4P on them! Call them what they are, and don't demean them with a term that I will now decompose into its would-be literal meaning."

I definitely don't seem to see the same vitriol when people use the term 'plastic crack.' I think the only retailer/e-tailer I've seen use that term on their site is @SirToys' for occasional, temporary listings, yet 4th party is a persistent category on multiple sites that likely amount to sales in the thousands. And they've used that term on their sites for at least the last 3+ years.

    upload_2021-5-17_16-41-14.png

It does make me wonder if there were people from yesteryear that pushed back on the initial use of either the terms 'knockoff' or 'bootleg,' demanding they be called simply "illegal" or something along those lines; and then wanting to justify the improper use of the terms knockoff or bootleg by breaking down the literal meaning of those word combinations. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the internet wasn't around that far back to capture that level of bickering. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But hey, we're in May 2021, and the talk in this thread in May of 2020 was...?
Maybe I should've left it with my (potentially?) initial post on the 4P discussion from March of 2018 with, "...if people want to utilize a term/category for '4th party,' then so be it..."
    :lol

Well, I'm cleaning out my temporary office at this temporary worksite this week, and after ~15-months of this much longer commute (that at least allowed me to check multiple Targets, Walgreens and GameStops on the way home), I will likely be back to a 5-min commute to my regular work spot (get back to enjoying the short trip benefits, which was one of the reasons I bought the house in the first place). Maybe I'll spend more time in this thread then... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Now off to see how many areas I'll strike out on a Target CI major bludd, and how many scores I'll make with cheap TF KOs from places like DD's discount.

(I won't miss the extra expense of gas money, time, car maintenance, and additional purchases... well, I might miss the last one, a lil' bit ;) )

Back in the day, I only use "bootleg" for cassettes, CDs', and video tapes. Everything else is referred to as fake. Feels weird to call fake clothes and shoes "bootleg", especially shoes since it may further cause confusion.

But if you guys think "4th Party" is a problematic term for KO, what about Chinese Taobao sellers using the term "Factory Goods", that MOSTLY, but not always mean KO?

What the vague fuckery is factory goods? Is it excess goods? Defective goods? Goods sold cheaper because it's straight from the factory? Skimmed goods?

And why is its usage inconsistent?

Gee, you're right. I can scarcely imagine what kind of dysfunctional weirdo would spend so much effort arguing about terminology on the internet.

    :tumbleweed:

I mean, who gives that much thought to the haphazard syntax used by Chinese Taobao sellers?

So long as no one's really planning on pushing the term "factory goods" as a capricious neologism for an arbitrary subset of the collector market, I guess.

I tend to say KO these days - Not said Bootleg for years if at all really.
I don't think Knock off is even seen as especially insulting anymore - likely as some KO's are superior to their original toy.

Guys do you feel that there aren't enough variety of KOs available compared to maybe 15 years ago?

In my opinion, there's too many movie KOs around. Most of the time, when you check the usual flea markets, there's always a KO bumblebee or grimlock and not much else. The KO and OS of third party figures are usually available from the same stores that sell the legit items.

Back then, there are several KO of Energon, Armada and Cybertron figures littered with Beast era like the transmetal optimus for example. Then there's a lof of other stuff like the RiD Megatron.

    Or it's just me.

I don't use the term "4th party" that often myself, but who cares if others do? As has been said before, other terminology we use here aren't really technically or legally accurate, so have at it.
