At least it matches the size of most of the previous extra-oversize Optimus figures. I'm not sure what kind of collection they really fit into, but the size does make for striking display pieces.

    I'm just fucking around.

I like oversized anything really. Particularly oversized primes and variants thereof.
But I do want a Planetformer....

I have had both the standard sized ones and the BMB oversized one and IMO the oversized ones out class them. In terms of plastic quality they feel just like an official Has/Tak release.

My set of standard sized ones had hinges break and pegs snap off when trying to transform them. Not even a concern with the oversized ones.

Dang. Then I might just try to hunt down some official bots then. I want these to become customs for the standard size since I already have a member for the planned team in deluxe-class....

By IGear do you mean the Weapon Specialist Ironhide? I've never owned him but would he scale well with Earthrise figs? I always assumed he was too big for chug.

Not really. He is the same size as WFC Optimus. Plus he is dated.

I mix and match (as I imagine we all do to some extent) CHUG, WFC Trilogy, Prime Trilogy, MMC, Planet-X, and a G-Creation (Rebel aka IDW Prowl). This makes for pretty extreme scale, but I make it work for me :D .

I think we were discussing this earlier in the thread.

Weapon Specialist Ironhide is a bit large for CHUG - he's a big voyager, and his overall proportions feel like they belong to a different scale than your average Deluxe class car. But if your CHUG shelf leans to the larger side, he's passable.

However, since Earthrise figures tend to be a head shorter than most CHUG figures, I think he'd definitely feel too big for Earthrise. I mean, unless you want an Ironhide bigger than Prime and Megatron.

Yeah agreed SMOG, he only scales with larger figures. You would need a larger Optimus, Megatron, Magnus etc. to make it work. And for G1 cartoon scale, he is far too big for modern Deluxes.

Thanks guys. Yeah, my CHUG collection was originally scaled a bit bigger. It totally would've worked with my older setup. Despite missing out at times like the IGear IH, overall I'm happy with my collection's new scale as so many more figs are available that weren't prior.

Also, my bad man, didn't mean to necro a topic already discussed here.

Can I just throw in that, with this mention, it is awesome to see a thread with 47,000 posts and over 5 million views. And it's this thread. :)

Oh, no... it's not a necro topic. I just meant it's a funny coincidence because we were just talking about this last week or so.

The scale of my collection torments me. :)  I've always tried to adhere to the idea that a Classics-sized Deluxe is the default for an Autobot car, while guys like Trailbreaker or Ironhide can go a bit bigger. Seekers should be Voyagers, and leaders should be about the size of the (now defunct) Ultra class. So as you can imagine, the removal of the Ultra class mean stung, and I was stuck with a decade or so of leader characters made as small voyagers. :thumbdown

So yeah, if I'd adopted a smaller scale early on, it would have made things easier for sure.

Up till now, I'd been using the old iGear Faith Leader for my Prime, and a mixed cast of "almost right" Megatrons. BPF's OSKO Siege Megatron and Prime are (finally) just what I needed. I love that scale for leaders, and the Cybertronian styling on them is light enough that it doesn't kill the classic look. Now I just need more characters in that size!
