OK. My Jumbo Machinder Defensor, as I call that thing, is a strange creation of China. At first, he is polyethylene. Second, he has articulation only in shoulders. Or rather, he has articulation is shoulders and heels, but the heels are a transformation joint and the only thing that holds Defensor uprights. A little movement of the heel, either by a clumsy shelf relocation or by my cat, will cause Defensor to fall.
He consists of 5 robots (named by me): Streetwise (police car, head and back), Riptide (speed boat, torso), Rollbar (jeep, legs), Groove (motorbike, arm), Blades (helicopter, arm). The robots are decent, not as crappy as Defensor. Streetwise has a bit too large head due to it being Defensor's head. No photos, will follow in a month due to me being at a vacation away from my collection.

Apparently, the cruddy knees have been fixed for the WJ version, so you can actually bend them without them breaking.

This is the last MP OP I’m buying until a toy accurate version. Then I’m done. I swear. This time.

I mean, I'm glad this thing exists as an alternative to the ultra-expensive Takara version (which is totally bonkers).

But the scrubbed-down toony aesthetic isn't doing it for me, especially when the thing is this annoying to transform.

I'll stick with MP10 for now.

How can you order it aside from SirToys? I mean there is Wei Jiang products (mostly OS TR Deluxes and RiD Warriors) in common stores. So Wei Jiang is making MPs too? And how much does it cost? Is it sold in stores? OS or not?

Also, how much it is in comparison to EA Prime?

For a KO really expensive. If it is considered a KO, not a 3p high quality product.

And my @$$ burns because I hate when HasTak resorts to anything to make a cartoon-accurate design. You can't just transfer a more liberal cartoon design to our world of strict physical laws. And when HasTak tries to do this, they end up with figures consisting of 70-80% panels and fragile joints used to hold all these panels in various positions. Well, to hide the leg wheels on Prime they redesigned the entire figure. If you want to hide the leg wheels, just retool MP-10 into MP-10R (terminology of super robot collectibles) with new legs. No, they went into further trouble and made a completely new shitty figure of incredibly high price, gave Prime a soundbox which benefits a Resque Bots figure more than an adult collectible, and those leg problems, lots of fragile hinges made to move all these panels needed only to hide screws!

MP-44 was disappointing. Earthrise Prime is better even with exposed wheels.

Oh, if MP10 is any indication, for sure. And look at all the KO versions of MP Megatron!

I'd be tempted by this, but every time I look at the transformation, I'm like "but why tho?"

I'll see how the MP Seeker 2.0 turns out... that might be a different story once they KO it.

It's not unusual for MP and MP-adjacent KOs to be high quality products with higher price tags. Considering how expensive MP44 is, I'm not surprised this one is still relatively expensive.

Transformation is always either oversimplified or overcomplicated outside generations. The only way to get a G1 Prime with both a normal transformation, cartoon accuracy and a trailer is EA Prime (which I will certainly get when I save enough money). EA is the new MP!

I'm a bit confused about that. Could be Ben was just tired and slipped up? He does that sometimes. The label on the video clearly identifies it was "Wan Xiang"

Or maybe "Wan Xiang" is the new secret code for "Wei Jiang" after recent legal troubles? :lol

I very much agree with this. To me, the toon designs were always an unfortunate compromise... simplified designs that weren't as good as the detail you found on the "real thing" (the G1 toys, box-art, etc). I never really appreciated the appeal or logic of simplifying a detailed robot toy for hand-drawn animation, then designing a transforming robot that looks like the simple drawing.

That said, I think the Transformers Animated designs did a pretty good job of capturing the cel-animated style in a physical toy. So I guess I understand why some fans find it charming... but it just involves too many aesthetic and practical compromises for me. I don't know why Prime's wheels need to hide anyway. That's part of what makes his design distinctive and look like it turns ino a truck! Aren't his legs a bit boring without the wheels?
