I've rolled the dice on an eBay seller, let's see what happens.
Why would you be all over that but not over this?
Got mine today... I'm kinda blown away by how much plastic and stuff I got for sixty quid. I feel like I robbed someone.
because i already have the IF bruticus and also i tend to like the larger legends+ bots for my collection. especially when it comes to showing just how big bad ass bruticus is i feel he should just be a tad larger. that is why i love my MFT dinos so much.
he is still an amazing bot and i am glad PT has landed on their feet with this release. it is a great bargain for such a wonderful set of bots.
I just ordered this and was hoping to use the gun for wfc Siege prime. I haven't seen any pics yet, but at this price I couldn't say no.
So is it larger than the IF originals or the same size?
Anyone have both the original and the KO? Curious to know if they feel any different, since the original figure apparently didn't feel all that great to begin with.
In both versions.
They are like any other product sold through Amazon, via third party seller. I've bought stuff from "Best Grey" via Amazon and had no problems.
So out of nowhere I got hit with a memory from when I was a kid (I'm 40 so we're talking legit G1 era) of multiple friends having weird colored versions of Laserbeak and other mini cassettes. I want to say they were blue and grey, and had transparent soft plastic cases. I have no idea where they got them, maybe local carnivals? I can't seem to find any information on them anywhere and hope I'm not just getting crazy. But I'm sure someone here knows something about what I'm talking about. Or I at least hope so
I had a Ravage like that, same era, and I believe it was either an original pre-TF official Takara Diaclone cassette, Diaclone was a toyline that preceded Transformers in Japan, or a copy of the Diaclone, perhaps from Korea. I remember having a KO Gobot police car that broke on me that was a KO at that time...but the cassette may be legit, but pre-Transformers. Google Diaclone or see "The Toys That Made Us" docu-series on transformers that explains Diaclone.
The made a re-issue in Japan of Diaclone styled Transformers, here is the Blue Laserbeak re-release from 2005: eHobby Cobalt Sentry Set in the Box
I remember having a brown Ravage as a kid... not sure who made it or what happened to it.
I remember getting some KO cassettes at my local drugstore (Jewel-Osco) in the early G1 era. I can’t remember the colors but I know they were pretty cheap and crappy.
You mean this blue and grey laserbeak? He came in the same series with a brown ravage and the light blue Rumzy in the pic. Not bad KOs, overall...
Actually, now that I think about it, there was a red/white and a white/red Rumzy with them...
Honestly, there’s just a TON of bootleg cassettes out there... Soundwave could’ve taken over the Decepticons any time he wanted.
Yeah, Psycho, that blue/grey Beak looks about right. Again, I'm 40 now and this was back in 84-85 so my memory isn't great on it. If just one friend had it, I wouldn't assume I'd be able to find out any information, but with multiple getting them at the same time, I figured someone has to know something about them.
So, any idea where they came from?
Well, they came from Ceppiratti, and were all in packages that look like this:
However, if you're looking for anything else, here's the back of the package:
Ceppiratti apparently did a lot of Transformers bootlegging, but the cassettes were the only ones that I actively hunted down.
I've only found 6 cassettes- the blue / silver Laserbeak, the brown Ravage, two blue Rumzys (with alternating light blue and dark blue), and two red and white Frumbles (again, with the red and white alternating).
All of those pics were from before any of the MPs came out, which was when I was in the middle of my G1 cassette binge. I still check ebay from time to time, looking for weird new variants, but haven't found anything in a while.
I've never seen any of these KO cassette colors. Thanks for posting pictures, that's a pretty cool collection you have.
Thanks! I really need to take some updated pics sometime, since so many have been released since these guys. Maybe it’ll convince whoever does bootleg MP cassettes to expand their selection...
These are kind of like Rescue Bots.
