I find the idea of calling Avatar Dancing with Wolves to be kind of annoying, that storyline has been used tons of times, probably even before Dances with Wolves

Yeah...I'm sick of it being called Dances with Wolves in Space, or Pocohantas in Space and all that garbage. It is called Avatar..and that is all it will ever be named...

I got that for Xmas and still haven't had time to watch. It'll be interesting for me to compare the two.

People keep pointing this plot element out, and to them I say fine, but there's alot more going on in this movie than just the similarity of that basic story concept, which has been done in tons of literature, and will continue to me told and reinvisioned.

Avatar is an example of how to make a movie.

Couldn't agree with you more. The story itself is very predictable. There are no major plot twists or surprises. However it is a wonderfully told story by Cameron.

Exactly along with great actors and wonderful CGI as well as cinematography (some parts of the movie were filmed in Hawaii), this turns out to be a great film.

Story was predictbale, CGI was okay... Pandora kinda reminds me of Macalania Forest in Final Fantasy X.

Exactly, which is why it is damn near the top box office now. Meaning, there is hope that I can live in an age where a Action movie is the number 1!

And have appropriate humor and a right amount of explosions as well.

    I hope it beats Titanic.

I can't even imagine how much a proposed sequel would do. No that we need one though.

What was ticket prices when Titanic was in theaters?

As I said before, I'm sure that charging $14-18 a ticket played a roll in the rapid record climb.

$14-18? Where the F are you seeing movies at? Ticket prices back then were about...$6 I believe. Know what...everything costs more since then... Either way, it's making more money.

I still need to see this in IMAX... is it sad that I know NOBODY who is interested in going to IMAX for this thing?

I mean, I am not terribly excited to see it, but if I am going to, I might as well go IMAX eh?
