Apple just recently passed out invitations for a special event on October 23rd reading 'We've got a little more to show you" or something to that effect. I have the iPad 2 but I'm definetely thinking about buying the iPad Mini because I would take it to school and type notes from it. Will you be purchasing this product? yes or no and why not
No. The iPad's enough. Plus, movies on a bigger screen's better than a smaller one. The current iPad 2 in the family's good enough, it's not like we always bring it out or something. And did they really send out invitations? I'm a developer but didn't receive any emails from apple ever since WWDC 2012...
I've always wanted an ipad but couldn't really afford one, so it really depends on how big the screen is and stuff.
No, I have a first gen iPad and am looking to go to an Android device now. Jobs tried to say that 7" devices had no future. Now Apple is eating those words.
I swear, Diet Double Dew from South Park doesn't sound so impossible in real life with this coming out.
Under his management. Obviously, since he's dead, they are free to persue the best direction. No one is eating anything. I'll probably pass in the mini. FYI, I typed this post on my iPad while texting on my Galaxy S3. So don't even...
No. I primarily use my ipad for reading comics and the internet and a smaller size would be terrible for both. Also the task-based functionality of IOS is starting to annoy me more and more over time, so I'll probably go Surface or Android when it's time to upgrade.
Wouldn't an iPad mini just be an iPod touch? And no I will not be buying it. My iPod touch is enough for me.
IMO Apple has been going the wrong direction with the iPad. Excluding upping the specs a bit with each version, they have done nothing to really enhance the usability of the tablet. The biggest change we's seen is the addition of a camera, while other devices have gotten keyboard docks and greater port capabilities. As such, if you already have an iPad, then you don't need to get the new one unless there's some super important app that you want that only runs on the latest ios version and your device can't handle it. Don't get me wrong, I love using my iPad. I got it the day it came out. But while it's a good consumption device, my tf-prime is far more functional as a sub-ultrabook/netbook device. I use the keyboard dock and take notes, work on various assignments, etc, and can do a lot with it. My iPad is great for reading articles on, but even with a keyboard case for it, it's just not well suited enough for taking notes in class, even with the ms office equivalent apps (pages, etc.). As far as making the device smaller like a kindle, it's not bad, and while I might consider one for reading, I can't see it being any better than a regular iPad in a lot of ways other than for portability. Anyway though, here's some additional information on pricing, size comparisons, etc.: iPad mini and refreshed Retina iPad pricing details leaked - SlashGear At least the price isn't too bad. in comparison to other Apple products.
Right. The founder had no idea what he waned for the company. Right. Now that he has passed, to hell with him. If that is the line of thinking, that is shitty. If, however, they want to admit an official statement was wrong, well, then they are eating their words. Oh, and I am posting this from my own iPad.
I'm still in high school so I would find the iPad Mini useful for educational purposes. My school provides free WiFi throughout the campus, so taking notes would be 10x easier than hand-writing notes. I'll update this thread tomorrow with pics & info of the iPad Mini
Depends on size and price. If they can offer me a 200 dollar iPad Mini to compete with the other cheaper tablets, then maybe. Knowing Apple, they won't charge a cent less than 400 though, even if it only costs them 100 bucks to make the thing.
if you check out the link I put in my previous post it has the price structure for the iPad mini. Pricing runs from 329 to 659 depending on the memory capacity 8-64 GB as well as if it is wifi, 3g, or 4g lte
