You'd think Denny's would have the full Hobbit Meal Courses, with Second Breakfast, elevensies, etc.

If there's one thing that's good about extending The Hobbit to three movies, it's that people who read the book like me can still be somewhat surprised.

    So that Means that
The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey starts during chapter 1 "The Long Expected Party" from The Fellowship of the Ring. Then The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit There & Back Again would take place right before Frodo wakes up in Rivendell?

Listen To The Complete Hobbit Soundtrack | Movie News | Empire

You can listen to the whole soundtrack here. Unfortunately you can't skip from track to track, but it's all there. Also, you can't pause and expect to resume where it was. It will restart the whole thing.

I absolutely loved Howard Shore's score from LOTR. I expect to feel the same about The Hobbit. I will definitely have to listen to the whole thing when I get a chance (or more likely just wait to hear it for the first time with the movie's visuals! There's more impact that way!)

The reviews are starting to be released. So far it's kind of mixed, but I think a lot of the negative stuff comes from the reactions to the high frame rate, which for the most part have not been great. I'm seeing it in good ol' 2D 24fps partly because I don't want the possibility of the new format distracting from the experience (at the same time it may actually make it better....I think it just depends on the viewer and if I get a chance I may see it again in HFR) and the other reason is I'm taking my wife, who really hates 3D. I'll be seeing it in 11 days!

I'll be seeing it twice; first in normal format and then I'm gonna see what all this 48 frames jig is all about.

And I will have that special edition soundtrack, is it on iTunes yet?

It's probably that and the fact that The Hobbit is more light-hearted than Lord of the Rings. I know they're adding a bunch of stuff to tie into Lord of the Rings better, but the stakes aren't as high and I think a lot of people who haven't read the books (like my parents) will be a little disappointed.

I definitely want to sample the 48fps, but I want to see it in plain ol' regular 2D/24fps. I'm more intrigued by the atmos sound than 48fps.

Only showing in 24fps at our crap 3-screen cinema, so that's it for me. 8 days to go!

Just saw Rotten Tomatoes and it seems most of the negative reviews mainly focus on how fake things look with the higher framerate.

To those reviewers, I challenge them to watch the original trilogy on my HDTV. Thing has such a high refresh rate, everything looks super fake.

I'm definitely going to see this in the most lo-fi theater I can find. I may be too old-fasioned for this world, but my intention is to simply enjoy seeing a new Hobbit presentation, not to be wowed, dismayed or distracted by Exciting New Technology.

I know huh. And for all the people who'll complain about the new format I say: Boo Hoo so a Director used a FPS format that your little brains can't compute - change is constant folks get used to it.

Now as far as the narrative arguement is concerned. The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings are 2 different animals. The Hobbit is a more lighthearted adventure where as The Lord of the Rings was not.
