Yeah I'm So! Glad! their adding all the history that Tolkien wrote! it would be a shame never to see it on screen if they didn't add it I Cant wait it's so Close!! Yeah it is Way before LOTR! it's The History from the very beginning Unfortunately I Don't think they have the rights to Make The Simillarion into a Film, and I Think it would be a Very difficult book to adapt into a film, since it's mostly all historical , But you never know!!
I think I've said this before, but on the Silmarillion film rights... Christopher Tolkien, who assembled the Silmarillion in its published form from the manuscripts of his father, hates the fact that the Peter Jackson films exist. He is the one in control of his father's literary estate as well. If I recall correctly, he regards his father's work as impossible to correctly translate to film. He may have disowned a relative or two over their push for cooperation with the filmmakers. And to Spycrabkiller: You may remember that The Hobbit and LotR is set at the end of the Third Age of Middle Earth. The parts of the appendices which describe the rule of Aragorn, the life of Sam and the others, are the Fourth Age. The Silmarillion relates the stories from the first two Ages. Good stuff, but the hardest of all Tolkien's work to read.
Any chance we're getting a new trailer for this? A little tired of seeing the same one over and over again. Especially the one on the IMAX I go to, which still has the "Next December" tag on it.
Yeah Theres A Rumor that the New trailer will be Released sometime through september 21-23 and the runtime for it is 2:25sec!!! I Hope this Rumor is True!!!
I'd be pissed to if out of the hundreds of Directors in Hollywood only "ONE" was able to do the impossible and adapt The Lord of the Rings into a sucessfull series of films made billions of dollars caused more people to buy the books then completely go bat shit crazy hearing the news that the same Director is now going to adapt The Hobbit into a series of films. I mean the nerve of Peter Jackson's films actually causing people to want to read the literature how could you sink so low as to want people to enjoy a fantasy film and enjoy the books... Don't mind the Tolkien estate as they go all bat shit crazy when it hears Pete's name.
yeah...from what i understand, Christopher Tolkien disowned his own son by his first marriage, "Simon Tolkien" because he expressed his support for the movie trilogy.
No worries, Christopher is old as dirt. All we have to do is outlive him and hope the next rights holder isn't so opposed to an adaptation.
"Like". Let's see what it might be attached to - the following are due out on Friday: Dredd End of Watch House at the End of the Street Trouble with the Curve 17 Girls Backwards Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel Head Games Heroine How to Survive a Plague The Perks of Being a Wallflower Radio Unnameable (released 19th) Three Stars Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/ Honestly... I can't imagine it being attached to any of the above. Possibly Dredd, at a stretch.
It will probably be attached to Dredd to show off the 3D. House at the End of the Street will probably make some money because those kinds movies make quite a bit of money on opening weekend and it has Jennifer Lawrence in it; so it will likely be attached to that.
Oh MY WORD THAT WAS EPIC!!!!!!! i't's beyond what I could have Imagined and to think we will get 2 More Movies after this!!!!! Hurry up December!!!!
The Main site has Posted 4 alternate endings to the trailer, you can choose from!!! The Gollum one is my Fav!!! Heres the Link THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY
