Did anyone catch this last night. It's the new show by Mike Judge. Having lived in Austin Texas for almost 10 years, this show hits home with its sarcastic look at the "self-patting" attitude of GREEN people. The great thing is that the Goode family isn't as bad as the people around them, but they are a good venue to expose how bad some people feeling a little too proud of themselves for being green. Definitely enjoyed this more than Sit Down and Shut up, which I really wanted to like.
I watched it, primarily because I'm a vegan and I heard that the main family is in the show as well. I found it a sort of over-the top parody of "look-at-me-I'm-green" types as well. I also work at a grocery store in a wealthy, left-wing town in MA, and it's funny to see people freak out over not bringing their reusable bags or return coffee because they were given it as a gift, but it wasn't fair-trade! but as a series, I doubt it will last more than a season. I don't see how they could really make it interesting enough to last.
I loved it. As my best friend and his girlfriend (along with her three kids) are very much like the Goode Family. A little over-the-top yes, but the whole being too poor to shop at Whole Foods yet doing it anyways was priceless and spot on. I gotta agree that this show may only have a season, if that, worth of jokes that could keep people's interest.
It felt like an episode from like the 3rd season, not a pilot. It wasn't bad by any means, and in fact I liked a good bit of it, but there is just no way this thing doesn't get cancelled by next week. Especially on ABC. Poor Mike Judge.
Once again, Mike Judge did it again. It's nice to see that the other side of the fence finally gets its skewering. The African-American vs. Black bit was priceless.
