Cool! I might experiment with it some more.

Thanks! Nothing bums me out more about this hobby than yellowing. So many of them aren't really good candidates for peroxide treatment, when they have metal pins or rivets that can't be removed.

I was looking for G1 Europe Classic, Streetwise, MOSC, doesn't seem to be easily available.

He is one of the harder ones to find sealed. And most of the ones I've seen have always had yellow/cracked bubbles too. :(

    Cool.

What other G1 combiners are difficult to get MISB nowadays?

I also noted G1 swoop MISB is especially challenging to get and Takara dinobots, MISB too.

Original G1, I'm not too sure. They all seem difficult to find MISB to me :p

But for the gold card Classics in my experience, the Stunticons seem to be the harder ones to find sealed. Combaticon limbs seem to pop up more often then the others (though I am having a lot of trouble tracking down a sealed Vortex.) Protectobots and Arielbots only seem to come up every so often too. I do have two MOSC (but open box) Motormaster's but other than them, I haven't seen too many of the other combiner leaders sealed. There was a Protectobot set on Ebay a few months ago which I unfortunately missed out on. These are all based on the English packaging. There seems to be a lot more of the Spanish packaging versions out there. This has just been my experience though and is mostly based on Ebay listings over the last year or so. Probably a lot more making the round through private sales I assume. :)

A quick snap of my Hoist/Trailbreaker figures. The blue Trailbreaker is likely a GIG release as I bought it from an Italian seller along with a 'blue Slag' and what may be a Diaclone 'Car Robo 13' Police Car Fairlady Z figure (effectively Prowl with a Takara circle stamp).

The blue Trailbreaker oddly comes with Hoist's towing gear. As he does have Trailbreaker's head and side stickers I assume a previous owner cannibalised a Hoist figure to 'fix' the toy.

I have a question: G1 Topspin has a little 'switch' on the back of his head. Why? What's it's purpose?

Wow! I never realized that. I got Topspin used when I was a kid, and didn't even believe it was really an official Transformer for a while.

From the Wiki: "On the back of both figures' heads is a device resembling a switch. The switch is asymmetric and each position presents a different gap between the back of the head and the surface the toy is running on. When the spring-loaded transformation is triggered, the inertia of the legs unfolding in one direction torques the body backward in the opposite direction, causing the whole unit to rear up on the rubber driving wheels. When the switch on the back of the head comes in contact with the running surface, it becomes the new fulcrum point for levering the toy up off the surface, both increasing the lever length between the spring hips and the running surface, and lifting the driving wheels off the surface, removing any forward acceleration from the jumble of intersecting forces. That anonymous bit of plastic on the back of the head thus controls the timing for the wheels to be removed from contact with the running surface, the moment when the lever length and thus the force required to rotate the body backward increase significantly, and the angle at which the whole assembly is positioned when the giant feet impact the prongs/screws of the upper body, creating the sudden 'snap' that tosses the whole assembly up onto its feet. Changing the little tabs' position can be the deciding factor between landing dramatically upright, smacking forward onto your face, or flopping limply onto your back."

Ha - I can see why!

Isn't there a thread on here complaining about how 'hollow' Transformers have gotten now? Someone should show them that picture of the back of Topspins arms!

got my new Galaxy Shuttle in from Turbine, just waiting a few weeks to get his box and papers. gave him a scrub down with a toothbrush and he got even whiter. Really pleased, just needs a set of labels to be perfect looking I think.
