2-3 years ago i bought 3 sets of toyhax stickers. Menasor, Slag and Inferno.
To this day I have not used them because I actually like the worn in look that most of my collection has. Toys with faded and torn and missing and wrongly placed stickers feel more "loved" or something. I will regularly tighten up floppy joints and glue old stickers back in place. But I have not really wanted to use the ones I have nor buy any more so far.. The exception is that I did buy some rub sign stickers and used those on toys that were missing theirs (if they originally had them that is). My Warpath is a Decepticon because that was the last rub sign I had

Reprolabels, and other things like that can certainly make a figure look new again. And, it can save you some cash on conditions when buying G1's as well, since you're just going to remove all the stickers anyways. You can find ones with lots of sticker wear, or none at all. These do tend to come just a bit cheaper than the ones with high quality stickers (and little wear). I have not tried any of them myself, as I personally prefer the stickers as is. It reminds me that these figures were once well loved and played with by children (and/or adults). But, I might give them a try at some point.

Sticker placement depends a lot on the person who actually puts them on, and that's even if they have the instructions. For example, I've noticed a lot of people putting a decal on Fort Max's chest window that I'm 100% is supposed to go on the runway under it in city mode. Hell, sometimes even the instructions are wrong - you look at the toy and find there is an indent in the exact shape of the decal, but the instructions tell you put it someplace else!

I usually only use reprolabels if the originals are just that beat up, missing, or whoever put the originals on just slapped them wherever regardless of what the instructions had to say.

I’ll take better photos this weekend, but I never knew Hasbro released a painted “shell” version of Scourge.

I only had the Targetmaster version growing up so I was only familiar with the sticker version. No idea which version is more common.

I don't know which is more common, but looking at transformerland.com I can see that the painted version has sold for around the same as the sticker

I love how G1 started out with realistic alt modes and then evolved to stuff like Tentakil.

I just bought a Downshift figure and one of the front leg panels that forms the hood is missing the pin that holds it in place. It’s probably a universal pin size but it’s tough to find him for parts and that seems to be a common broken part. Does anyone know where I would look to find a pin like that? Or, does anyone have a junker of that figure with a spare pin? Thanks!!

Not sure if you’re in the US, but Ace Hardware has all sorts of mini screws and pins in their specialty fasteners section. You can cut down a long pin with a dremel cutoff wheel.

I’m personally a huge fan of them as I never intend to part with my figures, and I love the fresh look of them done up as the designer intended. There’s something to be said for the worn played with look, but it’s not for my collection. Plus, I really enjoy the act of stickering up a G1. It gives me a chance to really explore the design and interact with the figure in a way I might never otherwise. I like to use lighter fluid to remove old stickers and residue before applying my reprolabels.

I usually just remove old damaged stickers by hand. They usually tear though, unless I am really careful. Clorox disinfectant wipes always work really well to remove sticker residue for me. I haven't noticed any negatives from using them so far. No discoloration or anything.

I would be a little afraid to use lighter fluid, thinking it might be too strong or corrosive somehow. Does the lighter fluid allow you to keep the sticker intact and remove it all in one piece?
