I got this sideswipe from EBay. He’s supposed to have blue eyes right? So this is fake?
It says Takara Japan 1980-1982 but then it wouldnt have the rub sign right?

The original G1 didn't have blue eyes. I think only the US Commemorative US Reissue did.

Along with the Takara book style reissue, which I think is what the US version was basically just in different packaging.

I rarely try restoring figures simply because I'd rather have as pristine of a copy as I can, but I got a Trailbreaker for dirt cheap a while back and thought I'd give a go at making it look at least presentable. All I did was tighten up the joints, apply some new paint to the troubled areas, and one deep clean and a set of reprolabels later I feel like I can actually enjoy having it in my collection. He's a really stunning figure when all cleaned up!

Been a few years since I got a higher priced piece. Wasn't sure if the thrill was still there- it is!

Has there ever been a reissue of G1 Deathsaurus?

I just saw the news headline about a Haslab Masterpiece style version coming soon, so it got me wondering about G1.

Is that a disintegrated rubber band or has the sticker been torn by a band holding it in place on the hood?

Well, I think there is a Brave Toys version, so it is possible the mold exists in some form or another. But, I have a feeling that is the last time it was reissued.

Nope and super rare. The Brave version Red Geist is just as rare.

Would love if it ever got reissued though.

Cool. Thanks everyone. I always thought it looks awesome, but can't afford that Ebay price for a vintage one any time soon... maybe never.

It can be hard to get one without paint flaking too, as Takara stupidly painted black over the chrome on the dragon neck.

Would love some modern reissues of TFs that didn't make it over here back in the day. Star Saber, Deathsaurus, Liokaiser just to name a few.

I've heard villain characters weren't very popular in Japan which is why Deathsaurus is quite rare. But then again, Liokaiser is rare also.

Liokaiser is rumored to be a lost mold for unknown reasons since the 90s, thats why the European repaints, Rescue Force, only got 4 members and remolded accesories

The neck flaking is super common so expect to either repaint the area or learn to love it.

Today’s arrival! G1 Sixshot! A personally favorite of mine as I owned it for all of like 12 hours growing up lol. Went from honor roll present to my grandmother straight up jacking it from me because I didn’t want to help with the dishes.

As for this copy, I think I got a good deal, the guy included an AFA case but it’s in ROUGH shape, trying to clean it now.

EDIT: Anyone spraying WD-40 on their G1 figures? I’m playing with this figure and some of those joints are extremely tight to move.

The case is clean! I didn’t realize how fragile these things are, looks like the previous owner maybe dropped the box so it’s not in the best condition but it works for me.
