It is entirely unjust that I can only like that post once. A beautiful set of giftsets!
Seasons, Dinobots, Terrorcons and Skorponok were my favorite G1 figures! Something about robotic beasts always had a place with me.
Here's a toy I've owned for years (otherthan a few years where another collector owned it and then I bought it back) and barely touched. Fire Guts God Ginrai who I use as my G2 PM Optimus Prime, mostly because I just couldn't find room on my G2 shelves and the colours fit.
It really is an amazing toy with huge play value. I think I might actually spend the time stickering this guy up soon.
Just a few more accessories and I'll have completed my Lambros!
Only need the parts to Cordon and Spinout, have all the missiles to the Sideswipe mold but many are still on the tree so I'd like to leave them there. Sure I'll get some loose missiles sometime
Have you read this article? Probably the rarest of all the countach figures.
Interesting. But I consider my collection complete without it.
It's an amazing collection, and I'm impressed seeing them all together.
Thanks and I think my response could for sure be read with 99% more snark than I intended!
Genuinely, very interesting, wasn't aware of that variant but I'm going to call it a day where I'm at because I fear tracking that guy down will eventually lead to insanity and I'm not 100% convinced of my sanity going in!
So do Takara, it's never been mentioned or shown in any of the Diaclone collection books. Unlike Black Skids.
It's a lovely figure though, I'd love to know its origins.
I also should qualify mine by saying something similar. It was more of a "check this one out!" than "Oh no you're not done until you've got this bad boy". Haha I don't know the names of some of the Sideswipe repaints but that black and blue version is so rad. I also love the Tigertrack deco next to the red Sunstreaker. I love the inverse of the two and the what could have been, or should have been based on their tech specs. As it is, I love what we got. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are both beautiful G1 figures.
Acquired another G1 old favorite recently. I found him in complete and really excellent condition. Paid a little more than I would for most G1 figures, but still less than others I’ve seen going for on eBay. I used to have this one as a kid that I got from a friend, but it was incomplete. So it almost feels like a brand new experience with this figure.
Meet my second favorite G1 fire engine, Hosehead with his Nebulan Headmaster, Lug.
Hosehead is my favorite of the Small Autobot Headmasters. I always thought he was a more distinct character than Siren or Nightbeat. Given the restrictions of the time for design and engineering and my own age limits regarding my coherence of just how different those two figures are, compared to Hosehead they didn’t stand a chance.
Siren and Nightbeat just felt too similar and therefore boring to me despite the bold color schemes each had. Plus, I’ve just always had an affinity for the more dynamic alt mode figures, like a fire engine with an extendable ladder.
Play features are important to keep an 11 year old kid interested in his action figure. I also really like the ability for Lug to be seated in his helmet which can be slotted in the space behind the cab. It’s like he’s acting as a little fireman.
He just looks so cool with all of his accessories. I feel like I was missing out when I was younger now. I only had Lug with my old Hosehead, which I still appreciate that he at least had his, ya know.....head, which of course showed off the other play pattern with these figures.
The sacred SPDSTRINT! Siren and Nightbeat may have been smarter and faster, but I believe ol’ Hosehead here was the strongest of the three. I like that the Small Autobot Headmasters had a flap to hide their stats, something that for some reason was not used for the Small Decepticon Headmasters. Curious.
Think it’s pretty cool that the ladder is on a rotating base too, allowing it to be used in bot mode also. I like when play features extend to both modes on a Transformer.
I’m very glad to have reacquired another figure from my childhood, especially one that I had a lotta fun with. Having all the accessories this time around makes Hosehead even more fun.
G1 Decepticon combiners
Do you talk some TV?
Only if you put down that chainsaw and listen to me!
Now I know some people do not care for cartoon scaling, but matching Dinoking against Landcross or any other is pretty unfair. I remember looking in the Takara catalogue as a kid, loving and choosing them for my relative to get for me (which they didn't manage to and got me Landcross instead). Would have been devastated to see how puny they were, especially combined.
HOLY CRAP! That's amazing!
Wait, no Stunticons?
Yeah, no Stunticons. Missing them and Computron.
I'm looking for an original Stepper and Artfire. There's an Artfire for like $2k(!!!!) on ebay right now, but I'm not paying that out of principle.
You're braver or more optimistic than me, I settled for the reissue and a custom. Nothing beats the originals though! Good luck on the hunt.
