Yeah. I like the giftsets, but none for abominus or bruticus were made for US, so I have ko sets for them.

every other nightbeat has been either a half baked retool or a bad mold redecoed as him. Or just an inaccurate head.

Wow, those cases are really nice.

    Here's my high-tech approach:

My specs have been in this carry case for 30+ years. No point in changing it now :p

Neat. The UK catalog design is nostalgic for me too. Even though I'm from the US, a good number of my G1s are from Europe, and I think I have more UK catalogs than US ones.

Cool and thanks! I wanted it to include UK catalogue design, as well as elements from the UK Special Teams booklet and the Dutch 1986 store giveaway booklet - also Panini sticker books!

    All the best

I am similarly high-tech: Weapons/accessories in old ice cream buckets, instructions and Tech Specs in shoe boxes. I am an old codger at the age of 42.

    I just turned 44 3 weeks ago.
I'm not an old codger yet :p

Though I do wonder if I'll still be buying toys in 16 years, when I'm 60. By then we'll be on Masterpiece Optimus Prime Version 5, retailing for $1000.

I still find it weird that Hasbro has not shown any interest into releasing a Brutucus giftset these days. You would think they might with how they handled his last two variants. But not this one.

I'm turning 44 in 5 months and a day. So that alone make you a young codger in my book. :lol

You forgot an extra zero, a second house mortgage, and your first born on the condition that you cannot guess the designer's name in three tries when it comes to the price they will ask for version 5. ;)

Or am I describing version 6, which is rumored to contain pieces of both Peter Cullen and Tesshō Genda's souls?

It's Day 2 of The Great Cybertronian Write Off! @Sixo @Maz and myself are posting mini-reviews of G1 toys in vintage G1 Transformers UK paperwork style, each day whilst we're all in lockdown. @tikgnat did an astonishing job with all the design work for this and I can't quite convey how excited I am to be part of it.

Today it's my first contribution and it's the evil leader of the Decepticons, who is so ready to fire off at the universe that he turns into a gun - it's Megatron! #GCWO

I can't say that I blame you, I've been considering getting them for the packaging and replacing the bots with legit figures. Where did you get yours from?

Great job. I love the closing line "original bricks that built the brand" Bravo good sir!

I prefer this reissue to the original. Tampo stickers and blue eyes. Weird that Takara never reissued it when its changes exactly mirror ehobby Hauler and Takara book reissue Inferno.

With Abominus, it’s a straight up KO still unopened (from eBay). With Bruticus, I got the box and styro from boxformers, then put my original vintage toys in the box. Kind of silly to get custom cga cases for these 2 “giftsets”, but I did it anyway.

It's your collection, not mine or anybody else's, So why not do it? Then again, I also have seen people collect VGA graded games that came back in the 10-30 range. Which is why I do not find the idea to be strange. :p

Great retro looking reviews and boxed figures.

Same! I think mine are old Tesco brand, one chocolate one for Autobots, one toffee for Decepticons, another for minibots and a giant clear one for combiners.

I recently bought a MIB Inferno and was quite impressed. Did the original vintage Inferno and Grapple have ratchets on their ladder/crane arm? My originals are quite loose and I don't remember.

One for the historians if you would be so kind (@Maz et al?) I recently uncovered my vintage Ramjet, it appears he has no rub sign. As an 85 figure, I presume he was not part of the original pre rub sign group. I've seen some other Ramjets without it, so I presume mine didn't fall off? Thanks in advance!

So what you're saying is, people in the future will be having a Sheldon Cooper-esque moment when they open their new MP and exclaim "I possess the DNA of PETER CULLEN?!?!?"

I take umbrage to the notion that G1 Megs is one of the "original bricks". He's actually one of the more articulated G1s out there, with his downward-bending shoulders, widening hips, and that weird, um, forward-bending lower-hip joint doohickey...

    ahem...
    UMBRAGE!!

    :p
