LOL, i'll be sorely disapointed if the retro thread isn't still around in 20 years time for a 3 page debate on future MOBA sub-genres.
According to the The Game Awards website: "Recognizing a game that delivers the absolute best experience across all creative and technical fields."
Sounds vague and subjective especially the first part. Any more detailed explanation? How nominees were selected and fan voting. Rules & Voting - The Game Awards 2016 So if the elderly and "non-hardcore gamers" were able to vote and cared enough to do so... Wii Sports should have won? Was it at least nominated? In the past I mean. I say hipsters ruined it for many of us. Can't find specific categories and who gets to say what. Maybe they shouldn't let some of you vote. imagine 4chan. Tried watching the awards: fucking first minutes it tried ruining my no-Zelda spoiler/trailer streak.
But it's suppposed to be THE best game of the year. How can it be THE best game if it only caters to an online crowd?
"The game awards 2016 thread, a TFW2005 original, 2016" Because its a fun game and they picked it and it doesn't matter in the long run cause it's just a sticker on the box?
Don't they have to go online first? I mean I wish these salty peeps actually didn't. Rage quitting gets tiresome the first few laughs.
I think more people have access to Overwatch than Uncharted 4 since it's an exclusive. No genre is going to appeal to everyone.
I don't. I find online modes to be boring. The only reason I play GTAV online is to drive around the city or play the heists. However, unless I am doing a heist, I always go onto a private server. For me a game is only as good as it's story.
Yeah but you have to understand that you're in a minority now. Same with me in that my favourite games are point and click and platformers. Just because you don't like to play online doesn't mean an online game can't be great. I don't know why you're salty over it honestly, it's a meaningless title.
Salty peeps shouldn't go online. Ever. Btw that's like playing SF purely for story. You're missing out big time.
Checked out Overwatch. Looks like an FPS with fighting game character selection flavour to make it interesting. The last person, who never went online for competition, I met in real life called fighting games button mashers. Happens to love driving around GTA doing all sorts of things. The guy doesn't work with me anymore after that.
The Game Awards is the MTV Movie Awards of Video Games. Also letting Street Fighter V win best fighting game of the year is bad comedy, when it should have went to the vastly superior Guilty Gear Xrd - Revelator or the also vastly superior The King of Fighters XIV. The only worthwhile part of it all is Mick Gordon.
Booo! Hiss! @ SF clones. That's like owning 3P products in your collection. Seriously though, I thought even KoF fans poked fun at the PS2 graphics.
SF clones, what? You must not be a fighting game fan if you're saying GG and KoF play anywhere near the same way as SF. KoF XIV is a very solid entry in the franchise. The budget went where it mattered in that game and I am glad they focused on mechanics first. SFV's abysmal launch should have disqualified it from even being nominated. I mean it's a great game now but jeez.
Honestly, I'm thinking you guys are making more of a big deal out of my post than I was. I couldn't really care less, but I think if a movie is going to be judged for best picture on all of its qualities than video games should too.
I admit, I don't like the message a MP only game getting GOTY sends. It's kind of saying "hey, we don't need a single-player mode anymore!"
Interesting? Yeah, sure. Keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile, I'll be in the single player campaign where all the real interesting shit is.
